Elliott Heads rock pools

We visited Elliot Heads, situated about 25 minutes from Bundaberg or 15 minutes south of Bargara. Elliot iver feed into it. This is a spectacularly beautiful place. There are rock pools along the coast when the tide is out, fantastic for swimming and lite snorkelling around small colourful fish that get caught in the receding tide. Right beside these rock pools is the fine sandy beach also great for swimming. There is a sheltered caravan park here, approx. $45 for a powered site. This park is a short stroll to the beach. There is a Cafe across the car park at the beach it is acoladed for it's Bugers, fish and chips. We stayed in Bargara on Honda site We wish to have been able to spend time in Elliot Heads to appreciate all the beauty it has to offer. Didn't go past this very special spot, it is awesome. There is flathead and whiting to be had for those shore fishers.

I had a great experience to be able to visit the rock pools, which are accessible during low tide but become an island during high tide. Little fish and crabs can be seen in the pools for a bit of wildlife discovery.

A must visit at low tide, simply stunning

A gorgeous rock pool that can be accessed only at low tide. The pool has a sandy bottom and is inhabited by cute fish. Rock hopping is required so wear reef shoes if you have them.

Can’t go over to the island as is migratory bird sanctuary, however, the vast areas of beach and estuary are stunning and I can imagine very busy during school holidays and weekends. It was lovely yesterday, huge rollers and kite surfers in the bay to watch. Excellent fish and chips at the Driftwood cafe right on the front!

Beautiful walk to rockpools at low tide. Sand was firm for a comfortable walk. Water was warm and crystal clear 🥰

Small walk here from the main beach... can't see the pools until very close.
Probably only 2 pools so was lucky to get there when no one was around. Beautiful spot with small fish eating your feet in the pool.

Lovely beach and place to visit. We used the BBQ and tables and walked on the rocks and wide beach. Spent several hour there and it was lovely with the family

Beautiful place to come for a walk and a swim. It's also fun to investigate the rock pools and see the thousands of crabs scurrying around. Great for the kids, too.

Definitely visit. Safe swimming with great views of the ocean.
Clean public toilets and a great food shop.
Heaps of parking.

Elliott Heads Rock pools are beautiful but you can only access them at full going out low tired only.
Make sure you check a tide chart before visiting or if you have a little wait go for a walk along tbe track to the Submarine Lookout, or take a stroll along the beach or grab a coffee, fish & chips or icecream at the Cafe' and check out the beauty of this place while you wait for the receding tide It is something to behold. 😍

Don’t miss this beautiful place.
Check time of low tide.
Walk til the island then you can find it.
I reckon to visit there between 12pm-3pm.
So many fish inside that pool and they’re eating your dead skin when you swim in the water or sit on the rock.
Frist time was scared them however enjoyed.

It's our first time to visit Elliot heads. We chose to camp in Elliot heads caravan park and we fell in love with the place.

My kids absolutely loved exploring the rock pools. They got to see lots of convict fish and a few parrot fish.

Sensational! What a delightful place to walk or swim....the river meets the ocean!
