Flutterbies Cottage Cafe

Set in the picturesque town of Tyalgum, this place is absolutely on a different planet from all other places I've ever been for brunch. From the outside, it doesn't look like much, but walk through the door and you enter a massive magical labyrinth of dining areas surrounded by small shops. At its heart, this place is a cafe with all sorts of eclectic and laid back areas to dine - both inside and outside. There are also a few luxury areas for high teas. It is mostly table service, although you can buy pastries and other treats made in house at the bakery counter. The service is exceptionally professional and friendly. Going here is a bucket list experience. Definitely give it a try!!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. We visited Flutterbies on a recommendation and weren't disappointed. The decor was eclectic and wonderful. We sat in a quiet side room rather like an opulent old school tea house. The adjoining room was filled with Christmas items for sale and was just beautiful. We could have our choice of seating areas including one with live music. Our waiter was very courteous and helpful. We ordered 2 meals and drinks. They took a while to come but were worth it. Staff checked in on us a few times so we never felt neglected. The 2 different chai versions we ordered were served in teapots with honey on the side. Both delicious. My pumpkin and feta salad was divine with thick stalks of dark green broccolini and large crispy pecans. Yum! Hubby's eggs bene were cooked to perfection. Cost just over $60 for both meals with drinks. After paying we explored the building. OMG. A delightful rabbit warren of gardens and eclectic shops. We returned to the cafe to purchase some bakery pastries to take home. Even hubby was impressed with this place and we will definitely return. They do high teas too but you have to book ahead.

This place is amazing! So stunningly decorated that it blows your mind. The food was fantastic, French pastries sensational, coffee next level great but most of all the staff were lovely. Highly recommend a visit you won’t be disappointed.

So much to look at, taste, experience. We especially enjoyed the old books 📚 for children, adults and everything in between!

What a wonderful experience, great food, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere and so many things to see. The staff were happy to talk about town history and could not have been more attentive. The entire little town is a real treat.

Update: 5 years after visiting the first time I have stayed next door and visited every day for breakfast/lunch.
Outstanding food selection and perfect service continues the level of excellence.
Ambiance even improved (hard to do) and this became the center of Tyalgum dining scene with a flair hardly seen in 5 star restaurants in cities.

Discovered this place on a daytrip to visit the monthly market. Beautiful country scenery to and from and very much enjoyed a coffee and cake. The place was full but the very welcoming staff organised a spot for us after a short wait. A stroll around the town followed and is highly recommended.

Amazing pizza 10/10 one of the best I’ve ever had

As good a Brunch as I have had anywhere.
Service is impeccable.

We went for both the Friday pizza night (which was amazing, but definitely book) and for lunch the next day. Pizza was delicious and there were plenty of options, staff were friendly and the gin bar at the pizza night was a great idea. The entire place is adorable, with the outdoor area being a great place to sit and enjoy your coffee. Loved the glitter in my G&T! Couldn't recommend a visit more. Only wish we had booked the high tea as well.

Had a lovely extended breakfast here just before Christmas 2023. Could not get over the effort and attention to detail that went into their Christmas decorations and presentation. Such lovely people and the fact that it is like a little community with shops and stalls combining to create such an enjoyable experience.

Such a unique place! The cafe has a few different areas which are decorated in different styles. They even have a piano room where a pianist plays in the weekends (I wasn’t lucky enough to be there for that but I wish I had been!). Service is good and food is nice. It’s dog friendly in all outdoor areas.
The shops at the back are also amazing! I bought a fantastic jasmine scented candle which brought tears to my eyes the second I smelled it because it reminded me of the smell of my home city, Valencia, in spring. If you are in the area, you have to stop at this place!

Surprised and delighted at finding this Gem. Behind the tiny little shop front is multiple different dining areas and half a dozen little shops selling beautiful homemade delights from oils and candles to clothes and art, even a bookstore as well. Amazing staff provided excellent service, food was great.
Definitely be bringing our friends back with us next time

Beautiful spot to stop for coffee. One of the best cappuccinos that I have had in a very long time. Friendly staff and great relaxed atmosphere. Go through to the back and sit on the comfy leather couches. Live music is a nice touch.

Our family visited Flutterbies whilst staying in Tyalgum for a wedding. What was originally a brief coffee outing turned into Brunch and shopping.

All the staff at Flutterbies are super lovely. Every person we interacted with was always smiling and down for a chat.

The coffee is excellent. The head barista ‘Raj’ knows his stuff. As a fellow coffee nerd, I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the window of his cafe watching him prepare tasty coffees whilst chatting about all things coffee related.

The food was also delicious. As we were a large group, we ordered a variety of items and everyone was very happy with their choice.

The shopping is also wonderful. You truly are supporting local business as you browse a range of curated items.

Definitely drop in if you find yourself in Tyalgum.

It's a fantastic place for brekkie. Great food, really delicious. Brilliant service and gorgeous little shops with all local stuff. Just beautiful. Loved it.
