Country Carriage Bed & Breakfast Reviews

This was our 3rd stay at country carriages with Rita and Lindsay who are beyond exceptional welcoming hosts. Lindsay saved us when we became bogged on Old Cootamundra Rd late at night finally arriving at the Carriages to Rita with hot soup and toasties ready. They are truly beautiful country folk. We absolutely love it here. The property has sheep/lambs, horses, cattle and amazing bird life. We enjoyed sitting around the fire with a glass of wine and counting the stars. Strongly recommend this wonderful hidden gem you won’t be disappointed. Donna and Lachlan

Our first visit to this outstanding accommodation. We loved our peaceful break away here. Rita is a lovely host. The old sheds contain historic memorabilia, well worth a visit. The perfect stay on our travels through the state.

What sawonderful experience! An old red electric train carriage to myself on a farm. The carriage was well appointed, warm and clean. Even a full sized pool table. Great food provided for breakfast. Was late getting in and appreciated the phone call to check on my progress. Had a guided tour of the farm and its historic buildings. Thank you Rita and Lyndsay.

Warm & Welcoming - Peaceful & Relaxing - Central Base for Riverina Exploring
I had a great time at Country Carriage B&B – it just wasn’t long enough. You couldn’t receive a warmer welcome than that from hosts Rita, Lyndsay and family – they love their animals, who will also make you feel welcome. This is a genuine working farm, now into its sixth generation of ownership with a great sense of history, as evidenced by their extensive collection of farmhouse memorabilia.
Then there’s the genuine railway carriage accommodation – a former Sydney Suburban passenger carriage and a former Commonwealth Railways Transcontinental crew carriage which used to ply the Nullarbor Plain – both uniquely converted to a modern purpose, whilst still retaining all the fixtures and fittings which tell you you’re ‘travelling’ by train. These air-conditioned carriages are tastefully and superbly decorated, along with a well-equipped kitchenette (and a gas barbeque outdoors), stocked with all the utensils you need for self-catering if you want. A generous breakfast hamper is provided, so you get to sleep-in as long as you want.
At night there’s the big, open skies and bright stars to gaze at -- free of light pollution, it’s a novelty for city dwellers. It’s a joy to sit on the deck and watch the sun set and, being a long way from the main road, the only sounds you hear are the frogs and crickets.
It’s a short drive to the beautifully-preserved town of Ariah Park with its famous pub, serving excellent meals or a bit further into Temora for more dining choices. It’s very central to the whole of the Riverina Region for activities ranging from bushwalking at The Rock to exploring quaint and interesting towns like Coolamon and Junee. It makes good sense to be based centrally here, rather than moving from motel to motel – unpack once and relax!
I’ll be back again for sure.

Must Visit!! This is an amazing place to stay, the hosts are so friendly, the view is beautiful! You might need a sturdy vehicle to access the property and note that mobile coverage might not be strong however that ensured that we completely switched off and relaxed. Situated in the Riverina it is a great location to visit the orchards or Canola trail.

Wonderful hosts, clean and comfy accommodation in a truely rural setting. Tasty plentiful breakfasts. Ask to visit the museum cottage.
