Such a good experience. Took me about 1hour to the top, but took quite a few other people at least 2hours to get to the top. Lots of loose rocks, and there are a few moments where you will be climbing. Most of the walk is steep.

I did not research enough about this trail and just showed up there. Thankful to meet strangers who were kind and patient enough to wait on me as I pant and take too many breaks. Climb up was a challenge as the gradient was constant increase (unlike some of my other experiences wherein you will have some flat ground to recover). Lots of rocks, plants, and trees to hold on to. The last section up has steady and solid rocks to climb on. On the way down was equally challenging with the loose rocks and soil, slipped a couple of times as I became complacent.

Magnificent views nonetheless. The peace and quiet at the top were so worth it.

Fantastic walk. Need to have moderate hiking, walking experience. Easy first part then gets steep after crossing the foot bridge. Rock scrambling at the end to reach the summit- amazing 360° views.
Need sturdy walking boots as lots of loose rumble underfoot. Remember to pack plenty of water & snacks - head out early morning or mid afternoon. Allow 3 to 4hrs to do round trip.

My favourite Mountain to climb. It's close to Gladstone, challenging and high enough for a day climb/hike, even for an experienced walker. I've climb this mountain multiple times and I still feel good everytime I reach the summit. I like taking my guests here when they are staying in Gladstone. The view at the top will never disappoint, unless maybe if it's a very cloudy or a foggy day.

So, you need to know this is hard work. On my last visit I averaged 2.4km/h and did not stop the whole way. It is steep and rocky.

On the plus (plus plus plus) side - some kind soul has marked the entire trail really well with yellow markers on trees and blue paint on rocks, so when you're sliding through grass tress or staring up an impossible slope there is clear guidance on where to go next. And it is really worth it - amazing views of the Gladstone region and a sense of accomplishment. I've seen many people complete this climb - 1 hour for the amazingly fit up to 3 hours for those who take a lot more breaks on the way up.

Definitely worth taking a decent amount of water (2 litres or more), and oddly enough something warm for the summit as it can be very windy. If you go early - sunrise you may see some wallabies bouncing around. So far I haven't been able to spot any drop bears or hoop snakes :)

Loved the hike. Nice solid hike to push the boundaries of the uninitiated hiker. Lots of steep loose rocky sections, rock climbing and Blackboy forest sections. Amazing 360° panoramic views of all Gladstone and it's surrounds awaits your arrival.

Great walk with awesome views from many places on the way up. Definitely need a level of fitness and plenty of water. For those not experienced with bush walking or hiking, this walk is very well signed

Amazing and equally exhausting walk. Gravel uphill is ok, but downhill challenging. View is rewardingly amazing at the end. Look out for the blue markers, which can be washed away. We have had some dead ends in the middle of the track, where pathways weren't 100% clear.

Beautiful place. Watch out for the wild pigs. Not a walk for people with bad knees or backs. The challenge is worth the view. Wouldn't try it after heavy rain as it gets quite slippery. Great place to get away for the day out of the hustle and bustle. Nothing but the sounds of nature. Wouldn't suggest low vehicles as parts of the road in are a bit rough.

Was a great track, make sure you bring at least 2 litres of water person as it's a long way and there is not much shade.

Challenging track! It gets quite steep in some places. The view once you get to the top is amazing and worth the hike.

This is a very challenging hike, do not underestimate the amount of water and sustenance you will need. Use "map my run/hike" if possible so you don't think you're lost-like I thought I was. Follow the markers religiously, I missed a turn and didn't realize except a couple walking up the hill passed by 20 metres away and I had to find the track again. Took me 3 hours each way and I was exhausted. But!! The summit is worth the effort😱😱 Challenge yourself, you'll be so happy you did it.

I real climb rather than a walk but a great challenge for those that enjoy hiking.

Lovely view at the top. A bit of a hard hike especially with a 7yo along. But truly enjoyable

A great challenge for novice/intermediate trail walkers. My wife and I wore light trail shoes and we recommend these as a minimum. There are lots of loose rocks and exposed roots to be aware of but this makes it a good challenge. Our total time for the return trip was just over 4hrs, but this was made up with lots of stops to rest and refill. We recommend an early start to beat the heat of the day and just enjoy the views a plenty! For those who want a good workout we were passed by a couple of very fit people running up!
Remember take your time, drink plenty and conquer the challenge!

Loved the hike. It does get steep in places. Start early in the morning and a good degree of fitness is required. Allow 1hr45mins if you have a reasonable degree of fitness to climb. About 30 mins less on the way down. Sturdy shoes required.

Allow 5 hours for round trip including breaks. Coming down can be a bit hard on the legs and feet, especially the long downhill section with rocks.

Worth doing if you are in Gladstone. Avoid the summer months due to heat plus spear grass
