Johanna Beach GOW Campsite

Great place to start 3 days of the GOW. Left our car here before setting off on 3 days finishing at the 13 apostles. Got a lift with a shuttle service back, we managed to get it for a bit cheaper but can be exxy if not organised in advance! Place has toilets, water and little picnic areas.

This campsite is for Great Ocean walkers and bookings through Parks Victoria are essentia to stay herel. It's well protected from the wind. No group sites up the top only 8 individual ones for up to 3 campers on each. (Groups can find space down near the public carpark area, 400 metres away.) Rain water is available, but it's always suggested to either boil it or add a sterilisation pill. An open sided, small hut is here for cooking and eating purposes only. A drop toilet is on site. The view of the coastline is great. No dogs allowed.

Amazing views. If you're a GOW hiker, this is your default option for night 5. The last km to the camp is an uphill slog, as with almost all the GOW camps. It really is a lively view though, weather permitting.

Beautiful view of the ocean. This place also has well maintained dropped toilets, water tank and a 3-walled shelter.

Amazing beach set beneath green cliffs. Only dog friendly beach in the Otways. Nice spread out campsites only a minute walk from the water. Bookings essential. The shore drops off quickly and the waves are pretty strong so not an ideal swimming beach.

A great secret spot along the way to Great Ocean. You’ll find yourself in between hills and ocean. Best feeling ever.
There are toilet facilities. No fires allowed and network coverage. So better prepare yourself to switch off completely from the norm life

Amazing views down to Johanna Beach. For hikers only and the 400m walk up to the site from day visitor area feels a more like a 900m. Two water tanks that catch rain water from toilet and shelter. Three sites sit right on the edge with full ocean views and the other 5 and tucked away a little bit.

Fantastic dog-friendly campsite! Very clean. Gorgeous views and the walk along the beach is amazing. Really impressed that the drop toilet was well stocked with toilet paper too.

The GOW campsite is only available for people walking Great Ocean Walk. The views are stunning from there. Make sure you book and pay before.

Best views of Johanna from this campsite. Basic facilities, shelter and an untreated rainwater tank. Rope fence along the clifftop has perished in a few spots.

We spend the first night on our honeymoon here in 2003. We came back last week. After fifteen years it’s still beautiful, hasn’t changed a bit.

What an outstanding place to camp! What a view from my tent. Pity about the campers before me leaving a whole bag of rubbish which was strewn everywhere by animals.
