26.5.23 Morning tea stop. Called in to try one of the famous vanilla slices. Chatted to a fellow out the front and he said the bee stings were the best. On his recommendation we purchased a vanilla slice and a bee sting and I think he may have been on the money. Staff were very obliging, cutting both in half so that my partner and I could share.

These guys are nailing the small country bakery market. Absolutely brilliant. The vanilla slices are amazing! Their pies superb! The pastry on the vanilla slice is absolutely second to none, as is the custard filling. Same goes for the pies, generous filling cooked to perfection… and the pastry - perfect! Detour to Birchip and grab lunch. Well worth it. Oh and Easter buns are kicking goals too!

Hands down the best Vanilla Slice in Australia. Welll worth the 8 hour round trip for us.

Stayed in Birchip over the Christmas period and spent half my time eating vanilla slice. Best I've ever had. Made my way through the whole pasty cabinet aswell, long johns, custard donuts and apple pasties were phenomenal too.

Fresh salad rolls with the juiciest beetroot served on the best bread around, worth making the trip just to smell it.

I left Birchip 5kg heavier, a car full of bread and vanilla slice with no regrets

The home of Australia's best Vanilla slice 2022... and the slice was delicious! Hubby & I also had salad rolls which were fresh & great tasting. Friendly & helpful staff. A visit is very highly recommended.

Had their vanilla slice recommended, wasn't disappointed. Service was slow (not busy). Hospitality means smile and be pleasant.

Sharps Bakery would have the best small country town service I have had. Arriving early in the morning coming back from Melbourne I had to stop and get some vanilla slice as they are the best ever. They weren't ready but was assured they would be about 15mins and to just relax till they were ready. Grabbed a coffee and a bee sting also. 15 mins later walked out with a handful of vanilla slice. Thanks for amazing country service I'll see you again soon

If ever you are passing through Birchip Victoria, this is the place to break your journey and enjoy a flaky pie and vanilla slice (past winner of the Australian Vanilla Slice on 4 occasions) with good coffee and friendly service. Located on Cumming Avenue opposite the Mallee Bull. Toilets available nearby.

I came here for the prize winning vanilla slice, seems like going out of the way by less than 100km would be worth it.

I started off with a pie and some patience while the slice sat and looked at me out of the container. Cheese and bacon, really nice as far as pies go.

On to the main event, the vanilla slice from here is like seeing the face of your deity of choice. The pastry is crisp, the filling isn't gelatinous and the whole affair isn't too sweet.
I cut off a bit and gave it to my 5 year old. He liked it too, but managed to drop some on the ground under the table. Of course, I didn't find out he had dropped the leftover bit (and picked it back up) until after he went off to play and I put it on my mouth.
The vanilla slice from the ground had bit of sand and grit in it, but was STILL better than the next best vanilla slice I've had.

Genuine award winning regional bakery. Definitely try the vanilla slices for which they Sharps Bakery are famous. The renaissance of a small town one pastry at a time!

We are on our little adventure we love to check out the Bakery’s Birchip is the best all there cakes and slices are so fresh I had the stockmans pie 👍can see why all the trucks stop there top job all the workers

Sharps bakery is a multi award winner for best vanilla slice. 😋😋 We managed to get the last 5 today to share with the family. They are baked fresh every day and they don't mind if you call ahead to reserve some. I'd recommend that as we have missed out before.
It's a great place to stop for smoko or lunch. I can recommend the pies too. 😋

We stopped in for a snack and cold drink. The service was good and cakes were delicious, especially the vanilla slice.

One of the best bakeries we've been to. Pies were delicious, great coffee, and definitely lives up to its name of best vanilla slice! The vanilla slice is usually comes out at 9:30 or 10am

I have had a lot of Vanilla Slices in my time and what I thought were awesome have been scaled back to very good after today. Every bite was amazing. Perfect amount of icing, pastry was delicious and filling was wonderful. How did they not win in the years between winning!

Great bakery way out in the Mallee. Worth the trip for afternoon tea. No toilet inside the bakery,but there are public toilets 50 metres up on the opposite side of the road.
