Tradeblock Cafe

Tradeblock Cafe is part of the Victorian College for the Deaf. It aims to prepare Deaf people for open employment or further training in the hospitality industry.
They have some signs explaining how to order using Auslan sign language and they are also happy to show you.
Found the experience great and the staff was very nice. Will definitely go back. Also love the chocolate on the Cappuccino.

It is an authentic work environment and Deaf space open to the public. Tradeblock offers a hands on hospitality program where senior students experience a range of roles and responsibilities, while contributing to their secondary school qualification. Students are able to build their communication, life skills and understanding of the workplace in a culturally supportive context. The Tradeblock Program assists in breaking down barriers existing around disability.

I absolutely love this place. The coffee is great, the Chai is to die for - served in a pot with a strainer as it should be. The food is delicious - and sooo cheap. The staff are all very friendly and it’s a lovely and quiet place to sit and relax.

There are also signs around that help you to order what you want using sign language.

Great place, am definitely making this a regular stop.

What a cute cozy cafe ! Please be patience to the staff here , most of them can’t hear what you say. Great place to read books , or chill morning breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea . Great coffee & food too !

Amazing food and service. The cafe has an incredible vibe! The little jars of relish, jams, pickles etc are simply gorgeous!

This is my favourite cafe in the area. The food is always delicious and at such reasonable prices. They often have small jars of pickles or jams you can buy that are just amazing.

Very good food here and it is very heart warming to see people with hearing impairment working hard, I respect it. I find it to be very inspiring. I would recommend it to anyone to visit here.

Wonderful young deaf students getting there first go at working in the real world. Going to this cafe you will receive excellent service, food and coffee, whilst supporting a fantastic enterprise. Would give 10 stars if I could.

Don't go just to support a good cause, go for the good coffee and tasty food! :)

Funky decor, proper nice coffee and DAMN that Egg & Bacon burger was SCRUMPTIOUS! Nice & quiet too (as you'd expect!), and for us hearing folk it is a very small glimpse into another world, and also a chance to help people for whom the world may be more challenging, even if just a little.

I am on a diet right now :( but otherwise I'd have sampled what looked like fantastic sweet goodies.

A welcoming, peaceful and cosy space run by an attentive and skilled team. My coffee was excellent and I’m looking forward to my take away biscuit.

This is a cute little cafe that is very homely with wonderful food that is reasonably priced and provides an invaluable opportunity for those who are deaf, to train and start their working life.

Little café with great service. Food was delicious and the experience of ordering and communicating with deaf staff was lovely. Makes me want to learn basic Auslan!

Nice cafe to visit unique experience as there is a deaf school nearby and history of it. Also people in the cafe can speak Auslan one of very few deaf cafe's.
