My friends and I had a delightful dinner here. We believe it is one of the better Malaysian restaurants in the South-East. Every dish we ordered were super flavourful and delicious. We ordered 12 sharing dishes for 13 people and we demolished them all. Our bellies are full and happy.

This place has always been our family favourite! Went there on Friday night and ordered some dishes such as the fish clay pot, golden crispy chicken, guinese pork, stir fry veges and our old time favourite, homemade tofu!!
Wish they would offer homemade tofu more often not just on Friday and Saturday night . Definitely would come back again.

Overall they are very good.
Try to come on weekends to taste their Hainanese Chicken rice, which I think is one of the best in Melbourne.

The chicken rice here is definitely one of the best in the eastern suburbs. It’s very authentic and reminds me of Malaysia. Not to mention the honey chili pork ribs on rice is one of my favorites that I always try to have for lunch. And for dinner? All the dishes are well cooked and so delicious. We’ve come here for so many family and friend dinners and we are satisfied every time.

One of the best place to get your fix on Malaysian cuisine. Place is not that big so would recommend to book in advance especially on weekends. The char Kuay Teow lacks a little wok hei but still tasted pretty good. The kum Heong sauce is a little spicy and packed with flavours. Guinness Chicken is a little sweet to my liking but the chicken itself is juicy and cooked nicely.

A colleague recommended me to this place, so I thought why not give it a try... So we went there on Friday evening for the whole family, not too crowded, although they're still get busy past 7pm. Service is quick. We ordered Sambal Kangkung (Water Spinach), which we loved as we haven't had that for a while. The other dishes we ordered based on my colleague recommendation were the Golden Crisp Chicken and the house made Tofu & eggs on searing plate. The "golden" batter is the salted egg yolk batter with chicken and deep fried. We felt like we're back in Malaysia in one of our favourite place to go dinner. The kids also love it. The searing plate (hot plate) Tofu & Egg also a top favourite with our 2 kids. I can't seem to find the name of this dish in the menu - as I straight told the waiter I wanted that and she knew what it is. Will definitely be back there to try other dishes some other time...

Delicious Malaysian food. The beef rendang was very tender, full of flavour and authentic.
You have to come early as it gets crowded very faster.

Visited again and enjoyed the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang.

The Char Kuay Teow is very good sized portions and full of ingredients but I feel it's not salty enough.

An authentic Malaysian Chinese restaurant with good food, and friendly, attentive staff. Furniture and decor is a bit dated, but this strangely adds to the authenticity of the experience. We had rice with 3 dishes which were all excellent and very reasonably priced. We also want to come back to try the Hainanese chicken rice which we hear is legendary amongst the Malaysian community in the area.

First time trying and loved it. It brought back memories of nyonya food in Malaysia. The sambal paired with the chicken was addictive. My first time trying a citrus (orange) infused sambal. Watercress was homely and the mapo tofu was tasty - not spicy like the Sichuan take so something different. All great dishes to go with rice. Keen to try other dishes.

Food taste good and prices are reasonable. Finally found the correct version of the sweet and sour pork. Special fried rice taste good, the nasi goreng could be a bit more spicier. Chow kway tiao and the hor fun was not bad too.

Rarely leave reviews but this place deserves one! Unassuming exterior but delicious food and great value! One of the best (or maybe the best?!) Hainanese chicken in Melb - succulent chicken, flavoursome rice. Salt & pepper chicken ribs also on point. Will be back!

7 of us had dinner here tonight & we enjoyed the typical Chinese-style Malaysian dishes. Authentic. Owner is very friendly & hands-on. Proper COVID protocols in-place & practiced.

Had the chicken rice on the weekend and got the beef with black bean sauce to takeaway. Reasonably priced with good servings. Get there early or the chicken rice does get sold out

Kotajaya has become our cherished gateway to the authentic tastes of Malaysia right here in Bayswater. From the moment we step inside, we are greeted like family, enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The food here is remarkable. It immediately transports us back makes us feel like we were back home.

Hainanese chicken rice that only serves on Friday & weekends is the best I’ve had in Melbourne! Don’t miss out.

Been having food from here ( mostly take away) for 4 years now and I doubt I've had a disappointing experience with them. Dishes I can recommend are the Sechuan Eggplant with chicken mince, honey chilli chicken spare ribs, Singapore chilli prawns, combination Crispy noodles and of course the fried rice. There are heaps more dishes which have all been great as well. If I were to truly nitpick anything, it would be that they should really use good slices of chicken in their Sweet Corn chicken soup instead of chicken mince.

My favourite place for Chicken Rice! Although recently it seems the portions are a little smaller, so that's made us a little sad :(
Regularly go here after church on a Sunday with a group of friends, and service is always impeccable, and quality of food is great!
Their Roast Duck Rice, Cha Kuey Teow, and Chicken Rice are all our favourites, and it's always a tough choice between them!
