Hotel Waldruhe - Kartitsch - Osttirol seit 1929

Last time I went skiing with my family was over 10 years ago. This time we went to a different area and hotel. We felt at home and were warm heartedly welcomed by Franz and his family.
There are many possibilities for skiing, snowboarding in winter and hiking in summer.
10/10 would recommend to friends and family.

I review seldom, only when it’s exceptional bad or good. Briefly: this family operated hotel is amazing. Undoubtedly the Strasser family and their crew put lots of energy and love in this gem. As a half board guest, I was able to enjoy their amazing kitchen twice a day.
The breakfast offered a vast variety of healthy and maybe a little bit less healthy choices (for the one who love a sweet sin) and a daily choice out of 3 diners, usually meat, fish or vegan. My most memorable kitchen moment was their in house organized BBQ with French fries (did I mention I’m Belgian 😉). As I’ve never stayed in a hotel
like this before, I would like to thank the whole crew for making this an unforgettable experience. From the cleaning crew to the waitress that served my favorite wine (don’t call it house wine) and especially the (BBQ) chef: a big thank you ! This is the place to be for food, nature, activity (and eco lovers) that’d love to try something different than a 4 or 5 star hotel. From an experience point of view, this place beats them all. I wish your family (business) all the best , a good health and “tot weerziens” ;)

We really enjoyed our stay at hotel Waldruhe and we will most likely come back when we visit the region. One feels immediately welcomed, all the staff is friendly and highly competent. They also fluent in different languages (aussi en français et italien) which makes it easy to exchange small talks. Our room was spacious, very clean, well- equipped with a balcony. The interior of the hotel is stylish and includes references of the past which we thought added a nice touch. The breakfast (buffet) is well presented with lots of specialities, home baked bread , butter from a local farm and so much more.
The dinner was also exceptional.
The wellness area is very spacious and counts two sauna, a steam bath, a infrared cabin, showers and plenty of space to relax.
We could walk our dog in the surrounding forest but also around the lake 5 min away with the car.

We loved Die Waldruhe in Kartitsch! It felt like home already.

The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed and friendly. The owner says the hotel has a soul and it is true.

The food is amazing! We've been going to Austrian quality hotels for over 20 years and Die Waldruhe's kitchen earned a spot in our top 3. The gala dinner on Sunday with homemade ravioli was... wow!
The homemade focaccia is also great.
Most of the products are regional and everything is carefully selected. Die Waldruhe promises fresh and local food, and it delivers.

At breakfast the kitchen will prepare egg dishes for you if you like. At lunch you can order a sandwich, or enjoy the free cakes.

Our XL room in the main house was comfortable and spacious. Especially the bedroom and bathroom are well designed. The beds were good: not too hard as is usually the case in other hotels.

The area is super quiet and calm. No traffic, no street noise.

If you're thinking about booking a room here, don't doubt, just do. You will stay in a hotel run by a super friendly and fun manager, in a warm atmosphere.

I cannot forget the experiences at this hotel. Very friendly and kind owner and I like and support the way owner had for this hotel. Amazing dinner at restaurant in the hotel. I recommend to stay at thus hotel and it is hard to express in words. I will definately stay again if I visit this area

This has always been a superb place to stay at since I first came here about 20 years ago.

But it just keeps getting better, because Franz (the owner) keeps investing into it. The most recent changes completed in mid 2018 are just great with the new bar, the restructured garden area outside etc.

But then the best thing is anyway the great customer service of all staff (you just feel / see they enjoy working here) and the yummy cooking of the chef himself.

I just love this place... and the mountain scenery around it.

Super friendly staff and great outdoor activities make the "Waldruhe" a great place to stay.

Franz und sein Team verstehen es, den Aufenthalt angenehm und erholsam zu gestalten. Komfortable Zimmer, der Wellness Bereich klein, aber fein. Was will man mehr?
Vor allem die Freundlichkeit aller Mitarbeiterinnen ist überwältigend!

Das Hotel liegt in einer sehr ruhigen Lage .
Das Personal ist suuuper freundlich, vor allem der Chef ist ein super freundliches Energiebündel.
Und das Essen ist fantastisch, noch nie so gut bei einer Halbpension gegessen.
Hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen.

Lage super, Zimmer und Ambiente super, Preis Leistungsverhältnis super, Küche ausgezeichnet, allerbester durchdachter Service auf jeder Ebene, engagierte, kompetente und angenehm witzige, freundliche Mitarbeiter:innen und Chef. Umweltbewusster Betrieb! Waren schon 5x da und kommen ganz sicher wieder. 100ige Empfehlung!

Hatten einen schönen Abend, das Essen war top, alles sehr frisch, viel Auswahl und die Bedienung war professionell, nett und lustig! Sehr empfehlenswert!👌👌👌

Familiengeführtes Hotel, der junge Chef mit großem Elan bei der Sache, sehr freundliche Damen im Service, Essen sehr gut, teilweise mit Haubenanspruch, "gutbürgerlich", keine Experimente und das ist gut so, Frühstück mit regionalen Produkten guter Qualität, kein Lift im Haus, also da heißt es Koffer tragen bis in den 3. Stock, Zimmer ausreichend groß, Holzboden, WC getrennt, sehr fein, ruhig, wenngleich auch manche Geräusche im Haus vernehmbar sind, schöne Alleinlage mit sehr ruhiger Umgebung, Loipeneinstieg, Wanderwege direkt vom Haus weg, Sauna etwas beengt, leider kein Ausgang ins Freie, die neue "Lounge" für den Nachmittagskuchen und zum Abhängen sehr fein, viel Holz, modern mit großen Fenstern und schönem Blick ins Freie, also insgesamt eindeutige Empfehlung!

Schön gelegenes Hotel, sehr hübsche, blitzsaubere Zimmer, liebevoll eingerichtetes Haus, tolles Personal. Außergewöhnliche Küche von hoher Qualität (z.B. BBQ - bei dem aber auch in Kauf nehmen muss, dass der Chef am Grill steht und zeitweise ein Liedchen anstimmt 😉, ausserdem habe ich einmal Brennesselknödel mit brauner Butter und Parmesan gegessen - supergut!!). Ungewöhnlich üppiges Salat- und Antipastibuffet am Abend; ebenso das Frühstücksbuffet: wow! Sehr guter Kaffee! Preis für Halbpension viel mehr als fair!

Piccolo hotel famigliare, pulizia al top , gestore molto simpatico, ottima la cucina, sembra di essere a casa.

Schon bei der telefonischen Reservierung,sowie im Hotel wurde ich von den Besitzern mit einer tollen Freundlichkeit empfangen. Ein Hotel in schöner ruhiger Lage, Zimmer sind top. Das Frühstücksbuffet lässt keine Wünsche offen. Ich werde gerne wieder kommen. Ein Hotel zum wohlfühlen und Ausgangspunkt für herrliche Wanderungen.
