Schmankerlhütte Kreuzwiesenalm Zillertal Arena/Zell

The food was incredible. The pizzas were amazing and the pasta was very good too. The staff was very friendly and language barrier wasnt a problem.

No wonder all of these prizes & titles are stickered to their door... probably the best alm one can find in the entire area. Very quick and efficient service, food and drinks get to your table in no time, and the quality of the dishes they have is truly astounding.

Had the spare ribs (~€17.5) which just fell of the bone, with a beautifully soft, sweet and smokey taste. My friends had the Grösti (also great) and the salmon (very fancy presentation and equally fancy taste), all very much worth their (relatively) low prices.

As dessert we had the Kaiserschmarrn which were phenomenal, the apfelstrüdel which was also great, and the germknödel (great vanilla sauce & soft doughy texture!). All priced in the €5-10 range, and again very worth the money.

Payment by card is no problem, the bathrooms are clean and there is quite some seating area. A must-visit alm when on the slopes!

At the far end of the Zillertal Arena one finds the Kreuzwiesenalm. This piste restaurant provides fresh food of local style. Surprisingly well prepared and with fresh salad and veggies. They even have a vegan option! Homemade pizzas, including a vegetarian option, are available, but be prepared to wait around half an hour. We did not have that time, so we settled for the vegan noodles, french fries and the Tiroler Grostl. All fastly served and good quality. Toilets are clean and well equipped, even on the busiest day of the spring holidays. All is served at your tableso the trick is to get hold of a table. Ask the cheffin and she'll find you a place. In the sun and out of the wind. Good value for money, too. At least, compared to the self service places elsewhere in the Zillertal Arena.

prices seem high but you get a ton of food and it's good
