It was such an interesting visit!
How many times do you have the chance to visit a nuclear power plant to its literal core?
We were a large group, so we requested a 2 hours guided tour that included the history of the place and the tour of the place.
It is totally recommended to anyone who wants to have a unique experience.

Great tour (only in German). Very interesting story. It's very hard to get free slots for the tour, though.

Absolutely amazing opportunity! Probably one of the few legal ways to visit a nuclear power plant as a normal person. Guide was only in German and it's very difficult to find free appointments, but it is so worth it. Not far from Vienna, we drove 60km in direction. The power plant is massive and although it doesn't have the usual cooling stacks, you can still see the remnants of the reactor core, the casing around it, all the behind the scenes of nuclear power generation. Very, very cool. The staff was very friendly and nice and explained everything very accessibly (again, in German) even for people who don't know much about electricity generation.

In the course of a company excursion, we had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the Zwentendorf nuclear power plant. What can we say? It was very impressive. The nuclear power plant was bought by EVN AG, which is also responsible for the maintenance and the guided tours. The guides have a lot of knowledge and are always ready to answer questions. If you are in the neighbourhood and have an appointment for a guided tour, make sure you do it. It is the only way you will ever get that close to a reactor without consequences.

Probably only nuclear power plant, where you can go anywhere, even into reactor itself!

Men plan, gods laugh. They were building this nuclear power plant from 1972-1976 and after finishing it, they were down voted on the referendum. Worth a visit.

Amazing bit of Austrian history. Rare opportunity to go in places you wouldn't normally. Friendly, enthusiastic tour guides (not experts by any means but we'll informed).
If you like/have an interest in nuclear/big steam turbines have a stroll round.

Awesome experience, the only nuclear power plant in the world where you can hang around in the reactor hall ☢

One fan see the engineering of 70s era at this place. Only suitable for engineers and scientists. Not a recommendation for visit by a common person. Also because it is almost 1 hour away from vienna so definitely not recommended

Keep checking the website for tours - I was lucky and got two places first time, but I know others who've been trying for ages.
Very interesting and informative tour, lasting about 3 hours. Not every day you get to stand beneath a (never-commissioned) nuclear reactor. The place is used for spare parts, tours, events and the roof and grounds provide space for an extensive solar panel array, so at least some electricity gets generated here!

There is no other place on earth where you can take a stroll inside of a reactor. Tours are only in german, tickets are free but always sold out

Unique place to get some insights about nuclear. Visiting the plant gives you a chance to enter places that are not accessible in other facilities and understand better the operation of a nuclear power plant. However, of course, this place would be more useful when delivering Co2-free electricity to Austria'a grid...

Very impressive! The only fully completed but never activated nuclear power plant in the world. Guided excursions possible in german or in english language. Really interesting!
