Well worth the drive from Berat. We went after bogova waterfall. And we were slightly tired. But the sheer beauty of the Canyon reinvigorated us and we got our act together and quavered up the canyon withstanding the most breathtaking views. Definitely worth a visit.

Osumi canyon is definitely worth a visit at any time of the year)Breathtaking views wherever you make a stop all along the way .There are a few observation sites with well-organised zones for a rest at the most picturesque places above the canyon.Parking is provided .The road is totally accessible even for not very experienced drivers. The best way to reach the canyon is from Berat. There is one stop where you may have a swim in the river Osum ,so having a swimsuit in the backpack is always a good idea)Highly recommended)))

This place is totally worth a visit! Best way is to go from Berat and back because the road is paved at all times and you can drive with your own car or a rental car. You can do a little hiking and take a walk or just visit the viewpoints. I really recommend going there!

Beautiful serene view. Note that where this is shown on the map is in the middle of a section of gravel road with rocks and water channels that might be impossible for cars. You're better off taking the paved road on the other side of the river, parking, and hiking to this point. Also note that you can hike to here straight from the bridge on a trail near the water instead of walking along the gravel road.

Absolute stunning place!
You would not think this is in Albania! The water is so blue and the canyons are impressive! In summer you can even swim in the water! 100% worth a visit!

This place has a beautiful view and the perfect location in Skrapar. You can visited and join the food in the House or Hotel behind the place. There's a post you can use for camping with camper and stay how you want.

If you don't have a 4x4 car you cannot find or go to the canyon following Google maps.
You can go to these coordinates in order to enter the canyon by foot. A restaurant is nearby and local rafting and canyoning companies are available for activities

The coordinates are : 40.4391455, 20.2802994

beautiful canyon, definitely worth the visit and there’s a great wild camping spot at the south end of the canyon (keep going a bit further than maps says). If driving, the road to/from berat is fine, but the road to gjirokasta is a gravel mountain road - from experience in a campervan I feared for my life lol would not recommend unless in a 4x4!!

During the spring, high water from melting snow makes it possible to explore the whole length of the canyon from the river. The rapids are Class II, so one does not need prior white water experience to navigate them. At the end of the summer, when the water is lower, the full length of the canyon is not navigable, but there are various walks with opportunities for swimming in various pools and streams.

The edges of the canyon have an unusual ecosystem that preserves the greenery on both sides of the canyon year-round. Mediterranean bushes like heath and briar flourish along with rich flora and fauna. On the slopes of the canyon, erosion has created pockmarked cavern walls with small caves. Some of the rock formations in the canyon have fanciful names such as the Cathedral, the Eye, and the Demon’s Door. The canyons are 26 km (16 miles) long, at an altitude of 450 m. They are thought to have been formed 2-3 million years ago by water erosion.

It is generally thought that many years ago the river flowed underground, but over time the rock above the river disappeared, creating the current form of the canyon. In the gulf of this canyon that passes Osum River in both its sides, water flows come from different villages which pass in a rock chain. The local inhabitants tell many interesting legends, such as those of Saint Abaz Ali. The canyon includes six narrow sections ranging from 1.5 m wide in the riverbed up to 35 m wide further up the sides of the canyon.

Gradeci Canyon, the most beautiful and spectacular canyon of the valley of Osumi, stands close to the cave. It is 4 km long, 40 m high, and in different spots, only 1.5 m wide. Its slopes descend rapidly into the river. To reach the other canyons of Osumi, you must journey southward. These other canyons are located 3 km south from the town of Çorovoda. They are magnificent natural objects with a total length of 15 km. In this area, you can practice water sports like canoeing, rafting and kayaking. There are also several spots that serve as small beaches, such as Varishta.

Beautifull Canyon, visited in October.
Probably the best time to visit is springtime when the snow at the mountains melts.

Amazing place, definitely worth the visit if you have the means to get there. You'll need water shoes to be able to get through the canyon unharmed, and even then the strong flows might make it difficult to traverse. The views make up for it though, as the canyon feels grand and untouched, full of twists and turns and trees. Take a waterproof bag with you if you want to take pictures with a phone or camera

I took a tour as I was told it was utterly impossible todo from berat on my own, but it really isn't hard. I'd recommend staying in a town called çorodova or sharovë in one of the guest houses, you can get a bus straight from berat or near to. Then walk a little while, past the brides hole (a landmark on the canyon) you'll see a sign for camping on the road, take the little path and it will lead you to a lovely part of the canyon where there is a low bridge connecting the two sides of the canyon. Depending on the weather and the hight of the water you can jump from some of the rocks but always with caution. Cross the little bridge and follow the path (it's not the most easy to follow but keep going up) and you'll come to an amazing view point (10 minutes max walking) and then take the same path back down. You can try to hitch hike it, from others experience it took about 5/6 different cars of hitch hiking back to berat as it is far. But don't pay for a tour, its not worth it.

Very beautiful canyons. The road from Berat to Corovode is not the best but the view from the canyons is definitely worth it.

Great landscape and natural views but rafting is impossible if you visit on August or September as no deep water inside canyons.

The Osum Gorge is a river gorge in southern Albania, near the town of Çorovodë. The river Osum, which passes through the town of Berat, flows through the canyon. The Osumi river gorge is one of the most spectacular natural attractions of Albania.
