Phoenice Archaeological Park

Really interesting site.
Short stroll up the hill. Flat on top, except for the amphitheater at a lower level.
Makes you wonder about how they had enough water.
The Commies kinda ran roughshod over the area. Ugh.

Superb location, magical place. Strange blending of the ancient and the recent history. Walking along the concrete bunkers from the world war II and reaching the phoenic ancient theatre... Strange, really worth visiting.

Named Phoinike, it has been the capital city of the Illyrian tribe of the Chaonians in Epir.
The cyclopean walls of Finiq are the evidence of the acropolis of Phoenicia, as the ancient writers claim, was seven times larger than the acropolis of Athens. How is it possible?!!!

The location of Cronus, the father of Zeus, as many authors say, show the lands of Pelasgian Epirus, or two parts, Dodona and the surroundings up to the coast. It is even said that Kron's stables were in Palavli, in today's Delvina, Albania. There is also one of the most ancient Pelasgian fortifications, Phoenicia. And, if we refer to the toponymy, there is also a town called Kron-gji, that is the place of Kroni. Even 'Rheas Kolpos', pregnant with Zeus, gave birth there, in her husband's stables and not in the royal palace in Dodona.

According to the legends, Rhea did not give birth to her son in Dodona, for fear that Cronus would eat him, as the fates had predicted that her son would take over her power, but in the stables of Palavlia (village in today's Saranda) in ancient Phoenicia : "...Zeus...was born not in Dodona, in the palaces of Kronos, but in Palavli, where there was a camp of Kronos. From there he was exiled through Onhezm (ancient name of Saranda) and sent to Crete, where he grew up and reigned in Epir"

Only several kilometers away from Saranda you can find a very interessting archeological ruins of ancient settlement. Located on the top of the hill. Admission 200 lek but if the ticket office is not working you can get the area because is not restricted. You can admire not only breathtaking views but a piece of hellenic and Rome history, also. I liked the theater very much.

A dieci km da Saranda a Finiq, si sale da una strada stretta ma asfaltata, a 280 mt dal livello del mare alla collina dove si trova il Parco archeologico di Finiq.
Un tempo il centro di Caonia e capoluogo epiriota, antica città importante. State attenti a fare la salita, un po' impegnativa ma il panorama è stupendo. Consiglio di portare qualcosa con sé tipo panini e acqua, perché ne vale la pena spendere un paio di ore la su. I tramonti sono spettacolari! Biglietto 300 lek / 3 €

Dość trudno trafić mimo, że miejsce jest dobrze oznakowane. Do samego parku prowadzi stromy podjazd, ale droga jest asfaltową w dobrym stanie. Wstęp niby 300 lek, ale my nie zastaliśmy nikogo, zarówno przy wjeździe, jak i w samym parku. Miejsce mało uczęszczane. Ruiny zabudowań z różnych epok, w tym amfiteatr. Ale są i inne ciekawostki. Jest tam spore skupisko bunkrów, w bardzo dobrym stanie, można je zwiedzać także wewnątrz. Do tego piękne widoki na okolice. Polecam. Bardzo.

Там так красиво! Чтобы все обойти нужно часа два или три. Мы были там несколько раз. Очень красивый панорамный вид, если приезжать вечером, то там вообще не людей, бесплатный вход. Бункеры и древние развалины. Стоит посетить. Там очень романтично!

Endroit merveilleux et ignoré des touristes! Prendre le bus depuis le centre de Sarandë, 20min environ de route (départ à 11h mais y être à 10h30 car peu de places), puis descendre au village. De là il faudra monter à pied ou faire du stop :) entrée 300lek

W czasie szczytu sezonu można wyrwać się z zatłoczonej Sarandy czy Ksamilu i w ciszy podziwiać pozostałości antycznego miasta. Ze szczytu roztaczają się piękne widoki. Strategiczne położenie "doceniła" poprzednia władza - wszech obecne bunkry. Uwaga na nietoperze.

Ďalšie zaujímavé miesto kde sa mieša história od antiky až po vojenské bunkre z nedávnej doby...

Il sito non è molto scavato ed è contaminato dai vari bunker e costruzioni del periodo comunista. Ci sono i resti del teatro, di una villa, un tempio convertito in chiesa paleocristiana. Rimangono anche i resti delle mura possenti. Attenzione che non è delimitato e la strada battuta non porta da nessuna parte. Nonostante tutto però la passeggiata tra le rovine è un'esperienza bellissima e si gode di un bel panorama

Centro archeologico poco valorizzato, nonostante la presenza di un infopoint turistico (totalmente inadeguato, sia nel personale che nel materiale informativo) sulla strada da percorrere. Il sito è raggiungibile solo se automuniti.
Oltre alle bellezze archeologiche scoperte da una missione italiana negli anni del fascismo, potrete godere di una ottima vista dall'alto sulla collina in direzione Ksamil e passeggiare dentro un bunker di epoca socialista: una "galoppata" storica lunga circa 2500 anni!
L'accesso al sito archeologico è a pagamento ma quando ci siamo andati (ore 13 circa, giorno feriale) non c'era personale.

🇮🇹 Bellissimo parco archeologico con poco turismo e visuale mozzafiato. L'ingresso costa ancora solo 300 lek (2.50€) e vi permette di visitare in un'ora un' antica città che vive dal IV secolo a.C. fino al regime comunista (bunker). Assolutamente da visitare!

Park archeologiczny, na szczycie góry w strategicznym miejscu. Widok na doliny i pobliskie wioski, rozległe pola z tysiącami owiec, a w oddali wysokie góry. Do parku wjechaliśmy na rowerach - było ciężko, dosyć stromo ale warto

Bellissimo posto , pochissimo turismo e visuale mozzafiato . Purtroppo il regime comunista ha sciupato molto di quello che c'era ma rimane comunque un posto importantissimo da visitare . Gli scavi hanno riportato alla luce nuove e tantissime cose , è triste però constatare che una sola persona è addetta alla vigilanza ed alla vendita dei biglietti per un parco così importante e vasto. Gli oggetti di notevole pregio e reperti archeologici sono alla mercé di tutti. Urge fondi !!!!!!!!!! Non si può lasciare che una gemma del genere rimanga incustodita o ignorata. Da visitare! Ha un potenziale (in ottica di turismo) pazzesco se valorizzato e pubblicizzato. Io l'ho trovato per caso .

Самый большой акрополь в мире. Много бункеров с ходами сообщения. Супервид на долину. С детьми до 6 лет тяжело, т.к. много нужно ходить. Ехать вечером после спада жары. Очень интересно.
