Located in the center of Tepelena with an amazing view of the river and the surrounding mountains. The walls are well preserved and built with amazing architecture. No tickets to visit! Friendly walking place for every age. You have an amazing view as well and the air is so fresh due to the wind from the mountains. We did stopped on the way from Gjirokastër to Vlora and definitely was a great destination. Albania has so much to visit in a very short drive for every type of vacation. Definitely recommended!

This is Ali Pashe Tepelena's Castle. He is an Albanian politican in otoman emire time who defend and reunite Albanians land from the ocupators, one of the greatest Albanian. For he, Lord Bajron writes a lot of history and fact and for the Albanians traditions

I got family there. So I sleep on the main boulevard. They renovated a lot here. It's becoming very nice. It's worth to visit a day.

Actually, the only thing that is left from castle - wall, and inside it there are a lot of modern houses where people live :))

But bridge + view on the river near the castle - really beautiful. There is a long bike road along the river, you can just walk there and enjoy the views

I love this city . It is very interesting and still have very good memories on it. We stopped here on our short tour through Albania and people here are very nice. It is not big city, but I reccomended to visit it because of way of its life. People are very communicative ans friendly. They also know a good english. There is one hotel and some pubs and restaurants. I hope to visit it again.

The Castle of Tepelene, was proclaimed Cultural Monument of first category in 1963 and is situated in the North of the city of Tepelene, Municipality of Tepelene. According to historical resources, the castle was envisioned from Ali Pasha Tepelena itself, who had supervised the first stages of construction of this heroic symbol of the region. The existing castle was rebuilt from him in 1819 with a surface of 5.5 ha, with three entrances and three towers. Until 1820 it was used as the second residence of Ali Pasha Tepelena. The walls of the castle are attached to the natural shape of the ground and do not consist of a regular geometrical form. Three polygonal towers are settled on the main curves of walls, to better control them. The Castle has three gates, one of which (the eastern) bears the inscription “The gate of Vezir”.
