Amazing don't miss it! We spend 2 hrs walking around the place & this was one of the best preserved. Don't miss the mosaic in the middle part in the corner!

Julius Cesars designation of Butrint as a Roman colony in the 1-st century BC led to dramatic changes in the city’s infrastructure.

The "great Basilica" is probably the most relevant point of historical interest within the large Butrint historical Park. Surely impressive and large, this ancient church is still much fascinating, despite the significant damage operated by the events during several centuries. Of course, right now, it is not operated as a church, for services, being (as the whole ancient city area) abandoned since several centuries..

Well preserved, nice ruins, and you can see a small mosaic near the altar, dont miss it!

AMAZING

Lämningar av den stora basilikan från 500-talet. Imponerande byggnadsverk och vid vår besök finns en liten öppning ner genom sanden till mosaikgolvet!

Muy bien conservada a pesar de los años. Llama la atención los restos de mosaico, las columnas y lo grueso de los muros.

Magníficos restos de la gran basílica pertenecientes a las excavaciones arqueológicas de Butrint. Se mantienen conservados diferentes partes de las diferentes fases de la colonización y ampliación de esta antigua ciudad primero helénica después romana para acabar siendo veneciana.
