Original Pancake House

A Madison favorite!! The food and service are exceptional!! I have enjoyed everything I have ever ordered. When my daughter is in town, this is where she wants to go for breakfast!! Amounts are quite large so I end up being half my meal home to enjoy later! If you are coming on a Sunday, arrive before 9 as it becomes very busy and people are more than willing to wait!

This location is packed on the weekends. You can expect to wait a minimum of 30 minutes on UW Badgers at home game day. The service is great and everyone works as a team. The food is served hot. The coffee is always flowing. It's a great experience.from begining to end. The only issue was the crepes, the strawberries were a little tart but it's off season, so to have served fresh strawberries was appreciated, The rest of the food was on point. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The sausage both pork and chicken were well seasoned. The sauce for Egg Michael' was creamy and the flavors were well blended with a hint of white wine.

The prices are affordable and worth the wait. .

This is one of those places that is so good you bring your family here when they visit town. I have been to the pancake house so many times I have tried nearly everything on the menu and have never had a bad experience. If I could give ten stars I absolutely would. Best pancakes I've ever had and make sure you don't miss the cheesy hash brown. Incredibly friendly staff and now that it's been remodeled there is absolutely no excuse to have not eaten here. Highly recommend!!

Wow... our first time at the Madison Pancake House. We arrived at about 10:45am and there were people waiting outside on a beautiful Saturday summer day. When there are people waiting patiently, it has to be good. We weren't disappointed. We waited 20 minutes with an 80+ year old on some benches. We noticed that while very busy and a wait list, they kept things moving without rushing their guests. Once we were seated, our servers were amazing. Friendly, helpful, courteous and helped our elderly guest celebrate her birthday. We had Little Dutch pancakes, combo platter with a substitute of coconut pancakes (which were incredible with a server-suggested raspberry syrup) and Eggs Michael. We enjoyed the pace, not rushed and pleasant time of conversation. Our server, Jess, was so good. Other wait staff were quick to top off water and coffee, bus staff were quick to get to vacated tables and did a thorough job of preparingfor the next guests. I read a bad review before we were seated, i think they posted for the wrong place! This will become a regular place for us to enjoy on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

The food and service was excellent!!! My favorite breakfast restaurant in the upper Midwest! I got the bacon and eggs combo the bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly.

I love the original pancake house! Always delicious and hearty food. I love their potato pancakes with apple sauce and sour cream, and they serve lovely crisp bacon that is THICK!

(I miss their salami egg skillet though)

Service is good and they always keep the coffee refills coming.

And the remodeled building/decor is comfortable.

This is a classic pancake 🥞 house. It would likely take about a dozen visits to make a dent in the huge selection of delicious breakfast treats. I would strongly recommend the 49ers. Thin and chewy, these are my favorite when I'm in the mood for some pancake joy. The omelette is large and they have it down.
They tend to be rather busy especially on the weekends, but the line moves quick.

My absolute favorite place to eat breakfast in this whole city with my husband. They food is beyond good and taste like home. The staff always ensure your coffee cup is full of hot coffee, and the owner ensures his staff is happy and fed. They is how a restaurant should be ran with a warm feeling that makes you want to come back over and over.

This place is great! Really busy on a Saturday morning but despite number of people waiting, only waited about 20 minutes. Everything we ordered was excellent- will be back to try other menu items, specifically pancakes- they have so many flavor options!! The Dutch Delite was great- loaded with fruit, the eggs Benedict with potato pancakes were very tasty, and the strawberry waffle with whipped cream was superb! Great service as well!

If you're looking for gluten free pancakes...you found the place! I got the blueberry and he got regular! Just have to ask. Our server, Kelli was Wonderful! Great food and the gluten free pancakes were really good!

Husband and I tried them out for the first time! No disappointments at all. Staff was very polite and attentive. We ordered the 49'er Flapjacks and Chocolate Chip pancakes, taste and quality...👌🏼. Definitely a new breakfast spot for sure!

We tried Dutch Delight and Mushroom Omlete. They were delicious. HOWEVER Dutch Delite smells egg. So it feels like you are eating omlete with fruits. Regular pancakes are much better. It is better to go on weekdays. It is too crowded on weekends. You have to wait.

Show up early because everyone else already knows this place is great! There's a little bit of a wait, but it's worth every minute. Pancake lovers will be overwhelmed by the options, so many great choices! combo platter with potatoe pancakes and corn beef hash is my go-to. 😊 🙏

Went on Saturday morning. Wait, it was about 25 minutes. Hostess got us coffee and waitress let is us know she would stop by soon. Food didn't take long and overall was a good experience. Hubs got the eggs Benedict. I got eggs, bacon, and pancakes. I like potato pancakes and hubs loves the regular pancakes.

This place has AMAZING food! I can't wait to go back! Their bacon is thick cut, orange juice is freshly squeezed, and the Dutch Baby is highly recommended! The staff we had were so friendly. I really enjoyed this place.

We came here for breakfast at around 9am. I normally would’ve come earlier, because I knew it would be busy. We waited about 30minutes. Granted this was during the summer!

Well worth the wait! It had been YEARS since I had been here and the food is just as delicious as I remembered. I had the blueberry pancakes. And they were so fluffy and perfect!

Our server was very attentive. I took my two small kids. And the server was very attentive asking if they needed sippy cups or any drinks.

This is my favorite place to get breakfast! I really enjoyed the coconut pancakes and the tropical syrup it comes with. I also really appreciate that for $5 you get a huge portion of hash browns! The restaurant has a great atmosphere and everyone working there are so kind and considerate. I usually skip breakfast but I can’t help but always crave the food here! Can’t wait to go back
