Altogether one of the best places I stayed at in Vietnam. Due to a interesting location a little outside you have the feeling you’re spending your nights in the middle of the jungle, as you’re staying in little shacks made out of hay and wood. During the night you hear all sorts of animals. The staff is also super helpful and nice. We booked the mekong boat tour which was a great experience and not expensive for all the things we got to experience. Definitely would stay there again.

We had a really great stay here and I can only recommend it. The staff is really great and friendly, the food (and breakfast) is terrific. The setting is great, to sleep in a hut next to a jungle river is a cool experience. Also I can really recommend the tours they give. We did the food tour, floating market tour and bike tour, which where all fun and interesting. If you stay here you can get a good feel of the Mekong Delta (not just the city). Also the price is well worth it and reasonable I would say. The only downside I could think of is the distance to Can Tho (about 10km) although by taxi you can still easily go there.

The people are very friendly. The shack is very affordable and has a fun vibe to it. Be prepared for hostel style bathroom arrangements though as there is two common bathrooms for 5 rooms. The tours arranged are also very affordable and you can spend the entire day well. There is a free cupping massage that you can avail of and take a bicycle to ride around the small village. Would definitely come back here. Mind you , for people looking for fancy accomodation, look elsewhere.

We had a lovely stay at the Shack!
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the room is just what we needed, and the dinner and breakfast were delicious while being a perfectly normal Vietnamese price. They have a lot of vegetarian options too!
We'd definitely stay there again :)

Cannot speak highly enough about the shack. Staff are all absolutely brilliant and make it a very special place. I have never stayed in a place like this before and it is fantastic. We even forgot our camera battery charger in Ho Chi Minh City and they managed to get it back to the shack inside 24 hours. Their tours on boats and bicycles were tremendous. A great break from the city. Would definitely recommend.

Definitely The House of Happiness! I have never seen such smiling people, the Vietnamese women working here are adorable and really funny. They will take care of you the second you arrive. The shack are really typical and you will be totally immersed in the local life. The tours are super interesting. And the food is amazing as well. I highly recommend it! It’s a great place to stay, relax and enjoy Mekong!

VEGETARIANS COME HERE!

Wow! Can't recommend this place enough! We were originally booked in to another place up the road and found it closed. The guys here were so welcoming and helpful and managed to squeeze us in. The location is stunning with a little bridge over the river to the accommodation and even a very cool fish foot spa made from an old boat.

We found the food absolutely fantastic and they have so many options for vegetarians.

The biggest plus point for this place is the staff who made our two night stay the highlight of our holiday. They run tours directly from the hotel which are pretty cheap and really good fun!

Free bikes, free water, amazing cottages over the Meekong river and staff that will make anyone fall in love with this place!

I had a great stay. The vibe is really chill and the staff are very friendly and happy to chat and tell you about life in Vietnam. I learned that Vietnamese girls only like green mangoes (not yellow/ripe). I only stayed 1 night, but I think 2 would have been ideal. The bungalows/rooms are really simple and basic, so you have to be ready for that. I was in bungalow 1, which was right by the main hangout/restaurant. It was overlooking the water and had 2 beds, 2 fans and 2 hammocks (which were great!). It was open to the air, so the bed was under a mosquito net. The bathroom had toilet paper, which isn't a given in places like this. The shower is basic, but there is hot water. There wasn't a door on my bungalow, but it's so close to the center of things that I didn't feel unsafe (and there is a safe for locking up valuables). I did the sunset river tour which I really enjoyed and felt like it was the right length. I also did the morning floating market tour. For the floating market, you can see that there are now as many/more tourists as there are market boats, but you get a good sense of it. We also got out and walked around the town market (on land). Our guide was cheerful and helpful and we tried a few fruits and other foods. The food in the restaurant at the shack is good, too. I didn't do the bike tour, but took a bike and went for a little ride around the area which is fun. This is a kind of rural area, but near Can Tho. I took the bus from the Western Bus Station in Ho Chi Minh City to the Can Tho station which is only about 10 minutes by taxi from the Shack. To get a taxi you need to walk outside the station itself to the main road to get the green taxis (not the taxis inside the bus area). The Shack is a great way to get the feel for Mekong Delta life and get out of the city.

Lovely, quaint establishment along a small river. There is no A/C, but fans are provided. The beds are very clean and the washrooms are communal but functioning. Also there are hammocks for you to lounge out in as well. the people working here will also arrange boat tours to a floating market and a regular market which is an unforgettable experience.

Great stay and lovely staff. The girls were so nice and hospitable. Also, right now they have puppies and kittens and they were adorable. The shack itself is wht it says, a shack. Bamboo walls, beds, floors, but I loved it. If you would like to have a stay in nature. This is the place!

Reviews are true - this is a pretty awesome place. Combination of shared social area with basic but pleasant bamboo shacks is a good combo. Kids loved it - mainly due to really nice staff. Make sure you borrow a bike and have an early morning cycle around the neighbourhood.

This is why i love the south of Vietnam...it a peaceful, incredibly friendly and the food is amazing! We spent 3 nights at the Nguyen Shack and it was perfect. The tours they offer are very affordable for anyone and thebstaff is incredible!

We were able to visit the temple where they support 6 orphaned kids go to school and it was an experience not to be missed. We were also invited to have lunch at the temple, which doesn't happen often if you aren't a local and only happens twice a month for special occassions. The Nguyen Shack has a vegetable garden where all the produce grown is donated to the temple. Staying here means you are supporting the community not like staying in a hotel who just wants to make money.

Highly recommended!

The staff is AMAZING. Absolute superstars. They really made the visit exceptional. Tours are great, everything is very reasonably priced, everything is beautiful and easy-going. My favourite part of Asia so far.

What an experience! Deep in the Mekong Delta, in natural huts surrounded by gardens and the water. Not only that but with great staff to ensure you make the most out of your stay. The morning Mekong Delta market tour was good, eating noodles and jumping aboard pineapple seller boats. However if you can only do one tour we highly recommend the Village Cycle Tour - Peter acted as our guide and did such a fabulous job we ended up having one of the best afternoons of our 3 months travelling. We learnt about local culture, met the locals (including a herbal medicine doctor who wanted to learn how to take selfies with our camera) and had fun along the way. Memorable place.

I loved my stay there very much. It’s very quiet but lots of cheap activities to do from the shack. The shack also serves great food and everyone who’s working there is really adorable (incl. dogs)! Would stay again!

A tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are super friendly and helpful. We went on the bicycle and floating market tours and they were an authentic experience. A wonderful base to explore Can Tho and the Mekong Delta.

The most relaxing place I've been in three weeks in the mekong delta. It's outside of the city, so probably the best way to get there is renting a motorcycle and riding to this chilled paradise, at least it worked for me.

Staff is simply awesome, very friendly and helpful, the food is delicious and affordable.

Stayed there longer than I planned for originally, and would stay there again in a heartbeat. "anh yêu em" :P

No luxury but verry enjoyable accomodation. We are very happy to have chosen this stay. Bicycles for free, do it. Lost yourself on the small roads longing the waters. Gmaps can be helpful.
Verry helpful staff. Nice and tasteful kitchen.

Pro
- fantastic location and facilities
- staff is very social, kind and speaks excellent English (they get well trained)
- booking online, we got a double room for 311,000 dong per night including breakfast, which is a fantastic deal
- quite cheap floating market tour for 220,000 dong available
- pool and laying chars

Con
- The basic double rooms are very badly soundprooven
- not a lot of interaction between the guests; it is rather anonymous
- it appears rather a simple "resort" than a homestay, but the term is being misused all around Vietnam

Great food and service. The rooms are very nice and the 2 fans keep you cool enough under the mosquito nets. The trip to the river markets in the morning is a must and staff are very helpful and nice.
