Meliá Ba Vi Mountain Retreat

A perfect escape from the hustle of the city!

The service was truly exceptional - during my one-night stay on a weekday, it felt like all the staff were waiting on me. The deluxe room may have been small, but it came with a spacious bathroom and a balcony offering a serene forest view. Plus, the bed was incredibly comfortable.

Nestled in Ba Vi National Park, the resort sits in a private and isolated area. The surroundings were so well-planned that walking around it and breathing in the scent of the trees and the crisp air alone was such an experience. Exploring the ruins of the French colonies was an interesting touch.

The resort provides bikes for rent, guided tours, and two one-hour windows for animal feeding - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The pool was relatively shallow - we didn't use it though as the weather was chilly. Overall, these activities were just right for me, as I preferred a more relaxed retreat.

We dined at Tonkin for dinner and Senses for breakfast. While the dinner didn't impress us much, the prices were fair and the portions generous. On the other hand, we enjoyed the breakfast a lot!

Would definitely come back sometime!

Amazing stay with great people. Patrick, the first point of contact, tour guide and organiser of almost every detail of our stay, was an a great person that provided so much information and useful knowledge throughout the time we were at this beautiful place. It is an awesome area, in the middle of the nature, with many lovely amenities and so many flowers, plants and animals. Make sure not to be too afraid of caterpillars, spiders or snakes - they might be around. Don’t forget you are in the jungle. The hotel was very clean and had everything to feel safe and protected as well as a king when it comes to accommodation, service and food. We would always come again to this place you can hardly compare to any other resort. Thanks also to Mae Anh from reception for everything. She was providing such a kind a lovely service. All of the team was just great. Please support this wonderful hotel and all of the people who try to help nature, animals and guests to have a great time.

Btw: book room 2303 if you can, it is the best room and has an incredible mountain view on both sides.

We had a great time at Melia Ba Vi - the location and grounds are gorgeous and you won’t get sick of walking around exploring the place. The rooms are super nice (although a little cold in December at night when they didn’t turn the heating on). There isn’t too much to do outside of the retreat Center apart from one hike to the temples at the peak of the mountain which were beautiful. The food could be improved (nowhere near as good or authentic as the food you get on the streets of Hanoi). The massages were phenomenal, we got a couples massage from Hang and Nhu and we loved them! The sauna however was not hot enough. Overall a great stay!

Chef Van’s culinary skills moved into high gear the moment he placed the chefs’ hats on our heads! Next came our aprons, preparing us for a delightful journey into Vietnamese cuisine. Van’s demonstration of cutting vegetables for Bun Bo Nam Bo were interesting but safe. He moved fast, so you had to pay attention! We had several opportunities to cut the vegetables ourselves. The scent of the garlic and lemongrass was heavenly. Adding the many layers of vegetables, rice noodles, bean sprouts, flavored beef, the many herbs on top as decoration, revealed itself to be an actual work of Art. The proof was in the tasting, which was downright phenomenal. I mean that! We give him a “stellar” rating as a chef and instructor. We hope to be back again and experience his culinary skills once again. Tạm biệt!

We had a weekend retreat here after the new year. They had a restaurant (Tolkien) that serves lunch and dinner and another (Senses) for breakfast. Chef Van greeted us every time we visited to make sure everything was perfect. His cooking style is actually very similar to my mom's and made me feel at home. Highly recommend the sour minced meat soup.

The room was very spacious with sober and environmental friendly design.

The property is big so we has the chance to go visit their garden.

Complimentary sauna and Jacuzzi made the stay memorable.

We had a very great experience celebrating birthday weekend in Melia Ba Vi and would highly recommend anyone especially families to try it out.

What I was impressed the most was the consistency of the service: from the friendly guards at the entrance, the receptionists inside to the F&B staffs. Ms Thuong reception has been extremely helpful and thanks to her prompt assistance our trip went really smoothly.

We also really enjoyed the private Jacuzzi and steam sauna experience as well.

Thoroughly enjoyed the property and would love to come back.

The resort is located inside the Ba Vi national park, with a rustic design that blends in with the surrounding environment. The room is spacious, luxurious but comfortable.

Chef Văn's culinary expertise shines through in every dish, from the perfectly sautéed mushrooms to the delightful balance of flavors in the sweet and sour soup. The tender chicken, whether steamed or grilled, showcases his mastery of diverse cooking techniques.

Excellent room, service and food. Our dinners by chef Van were fantastic, both Western and Viet dishes. We also had massages from Hue, Hang and Lan and they were so sweet and good at their job.

I had a wonderful experience at the spa today. The staff were very friendly and professional. I want to thank Như and Hằng for their excellent service. Hằng gave me a relaxing massage that eased my tension and stress. Như was very attentive and gentle. Both of them were very skilled and courteous. I felt pampered and refreshed after my visit. I highly recommend this spa to anyone who needs a break from the hustle and bustle of daily lives 😍

This retreat is utter bliss. The service is impeccable. The cabins truly spectacular. We only had 2 nights here but wow what an amazing time we had. The outdoor pool is divine. The spa is extraordinary. You’ll even enjoy a gym session with those views! The tour of the ruins was such an insight into the past and fascinating. Just being in the buggy being driven around the estate is such a joy. Do not hesitate booking, you won’t regret it.

Amazing weekend getaway for our anniversary. Gorgeous scenery and incredible service. Make sure you do a hot stone massage in the spa with Lan or Hang. Bliss. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back.

Lovely hotel and grounds. Twig in reception was lovely and gave us a great tour or the property. Manh made our night at dinner. It was the perfect weekend getaway from Hanoi.

We stayed 1 night at Melia Ba Vi and it was a memorable experience. The hotel is located in the national park which is away from the hustle and bustle of the city of Há Noi.

We booked the Deluxe room which was quite spacious and had a balcony with a garden view. The bathroom was spacious, with a jacuzzi-style shower and bathtub.

The Hotel is very well designed and presents a modern look with a rustic architecture that is characteristic of the area. All the staff were exceptional with us and extremely friendly.

We had 2 meals at the restaurant which were quite tasty. Breakfast had a huge variety of options including a freshly made eggs/omelette station.

We wanted to go back because it was a very relaxing and peaceful day. We will certainly go back when we return to Vietnam. 😍

Food is great, good money for value. Menu has plenty of options, I like the extended beverage menu. Chef Van is very attentive and welcoming to us. Good experience and will come back 😊

Great experience in our 3 day stay, despite the poor and cold weather we got which cancelled our plans to explore wider Ba Vi and stayed within the resort.

Our biggest highlight is the animal feeding experience and private tour of the French Ruins. We also took the cooking class, which is fun and offers great value because it’s about the same cost as a dinner and you get learn and eat your own work as the prize. Chef Coung Le is very patient and skilled which made the experience great for us.

Most of the staff is trained in basic English for ordering purposes and are genuinely nice and attentive. We relied on Ms. Nhung Ngo for more complex translations i.e giving the tour in English and during our cooking class, without her I don’t think the experience here would have been the same.

Despite having only one restaurant open for the entire week (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). There is enough variety for us to last 3 days. Dinner by Chef Van was excellent.

The Hot Stone massage given by Lan Hue was incredibly relaxing, together with the spa and jacuzzi. They have multiple spa/sauna areas and we were given our own private sauna area for relaxation.
