Madrasa Mirzo Ulughbeg

The oldest madrasa in Central Asia! Just east of the Toqi Zargaron is the kosh ensemble of the Ulughbeg and Abdulazizkhan madrasas. Of these two madrasas, the smaller Ulughbeg Madrasa is the oldest, the madrasa dating from 1417 is even the oldest in all of Central Asia. This school with its fairly simple, yet beautifully decorated facade and pishtak is one of the three remaining madrasas that Ulugh Beg, grandson of the famous warlord Timur Lenk, had built. Above the entrance gate is the motto of the school: "It is the duty of every Muslim, man and woman, to acquire knowledge". Not to be missed during your visit to Bukhara!

It is one of the ancient madrasah committed by Ulugbek and considired the most perfectone.

Ulug'bek madradasi 1417 yilda qurilgan. 1586 yilda abdullaxon ll va Xo'ja sa'd jo'yboriy tomonidan qayta ta'mirlangan Hovli gʻarbidagi hujra tepasida ganchkori bezaklar orasida taʼmirlovchi usta Ismoil ibn Tohir ibn Mahmud Isfahoniy nomi saqlangan. Abdurazzoq Samarqandiyning xabar qilishicha, Ulugbek (1419-yil 28 noyabrda) madrasaga kelib ilm oluvchi talabalarga inʼomlar ulashgan. Bizgacha Ulugʻbek madrasasi ancha oʻzgargan holda yetib kelgan. 16—17-asrlarda, 1950—70 va 1990—96 yillarda taʼmirlangan. Eshik tabaqalariga arab tilida "Bilim olish har bir musulmon erkak va ayol uchun farzdir", degan ibora oʻyib yozilgan
