New Harmony Dulcimer Company

We stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon in late November and we were lucky that Rick was just unpacking new Dulcimers. He was also practicing for their X-mas event and he played 4 songs for us on different Dulcimers and then briefly showed my wife how to play one. What a great experience.

This is now called Creation Station 310. Google showed it being on the edge of town, but the New Harmony tourist center told us it was now called Creation Station and was right downtown. As my husband noted in his review, we got there and the owner was playing a brand new dulcimer he had just unpacked. He treated us to FOUR songs, one on each kind of dulcimer (soprano, standard, baritone and bass) and then had me try out playing one! Absolutely the most magical experience of our entire time in New Harmony. Wish I could have bought a dulcimer - they are a bit out of my price range and I would have needed to fly it home. But I think I'm going to contact the owner if I find something online and see what he thinks about it.

They build a high quality, handcrafted dulcimer with an unbelievable guarantee and are some of the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. We felt like we had made new friends after visiting with them.

This was the best part of our trip to New Harmony!!! I feel bad that I don't remember the shop owner's name. He was very kind! He invited us in and gave us lessons on the dulcimers, which we'd never even heard of or seen before. We stumbled in on accident and stayed for almost an hour!

Just revived my beautiful Pudge dulcimer. Swamp ash top and peruvian walnut . It is absolutely beautiful and sounds even better. I can't say enough about the workmanship and care Rick takes making these beautiful instruments. Thank you so much Sammye Johnson

We stopped on a Friday afternoon to a locked door. A nice lady did come out as we were getting in our vehicle to leave and explained they are really by appointment only. Someone please update your status on Google as a courtesy to the public. Disappointed, we thought this would be an interesting place.

I wonder who the customers were talking about that invited them in and acquainted them with the dulcimer and taught them to play it. ???
In reality greed and egotistical pride have overcome NEW HARMONY DULCIMER COMPANY to the point that it has totally lost track of it's true origins. It now promotes itself on the web with a creative alternate reality back story and images and reviews from the past. In all honesty these are nothing more than remnants of what it once was, NOT what it is today, and they should be removed!
