Ammon Mediterranean Market

Mmnnnn Mnnnn Mnnnnnnn Delicious!
I was venturing around in CH and stumbled upon this local market, hiding away in a plaza. Suuuuurrreeeee, why not!? Lol

I was greeted by the lovely cashier and although the market is small, I noticed they have a kitchen!! #Winning

I placed my order (Beef Shawarma Fries). While waiting for the food, I browsed the aisles and was very pleased with the variety of items they had to offer in such limited space (I purchased a additional items ☺).

Anywho, when the food came out, it smelled delicious, but it was not what I expected. The meat came in a wrap and I thought the meat was the topping for the fries. Easy fix though, so I took the meat out and made my meal to my liking. And Mnnnn Mnnnnn Mnnnnn....Def A Fan! Oh and also devoured the wrap. Lol

When in the area, I will not hesitate to return.

The food was soo good and fresh. The market had a lot of great food items . Will definitely take the hour drive back.

I enjoy shopping at Ammon, the location of this place saves me time, instead of driving all the way up to main st, Paterson.

They have a variety of Middle Eastern products that I grew up eating, when I used to live in Jordan and Palestine. Also brings back a lot of good memories is the Arabic music playing in the background. It makes feel that I'm back in Amman, Jordan.

They also have products from other Middle Eastern countries that I never had the chance to try,this place does have variety from the Middle East.

They don't just have a good variety of groceries, they also have a butcher shop. What makes the butcher shop a plus, is that they offer fresh Halal meats, cheeses and deli meat.

They also have a grill where they offer the usual middle eastern cuisine, such as shawarma, falafel,and hummus...etc.

The customer service was great, really affordable market and hot food. The owner was very nice. Tried some new food I never had before and he went back and made me fresh hummus.

I was running errands and came by out of curiosity, and I’m so glad I did! Ended up leaving with all sorts of Mediterranean grocery goods that can be hard to find, but also had the best falafel sandwich. It was so light with a great crunch and little kick from the hot sauce. The portion was super generous and the garlic sauce they serve with the fries is outrageous. Definitely recommend stopping by!

This place is IT!
Walked in out of curiosity and left with great conversation, and food JUST AS GOOD.
The owner asked if we've ever tried the falafel and offered a sample. THEY WERE DELICIOUS.
The hot falafel sat on top of a little bit of tahini sauce and the LENTIL SOUP?!
SO sad they were sold out for the day but I will for sure be back !
ABSOLUTELY will be coming back for more.

HIDDEN GEM! They now have delicious authentic food from Jordan! BEST shawarma!!! High quality sumac & Zattar! Delicious tahini! Several syrups (tamarind, strawberry, almond), fine bulgar and so much more!!! Clean store. Friendly & helpful staff. We got fresh dates (still on branch!!!), fresh pistachio, cactus pear and many other Mediterranean ingredients you may wish.

A Google search for flatbread on the Jersey side first led us to Ammon. It was rainy, but we had some hummus we wanted to eat and finish out with legit bread, so we were willing to risk the trek and we were NOT disappointed. At that time, we were lucky to have gotten fresh, homemade Iraqi bread before it ran out. (Trust me, we have returned twice to get the bread again only to discover that they were completely sold out. Those things sell like hot cakes! Apparently, the inventory arrives on Friday.) With the bread we decided to pick up some baba ghanoush, and it was sooooo GOOOD. You could taste the roast/grill in the eggplant. In fact, we have since purchased it 3x in less than a month.

What brings me to write this review is actually the experience and visit we had today. I wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary with a Family Platter from Ammon (prompted by pictures posted online), so this is where we came.

We met Awad while ordering. He helped to facilitate the process. The man exudes hospitality. We were made to feel at home - at a grocery store! The falafel we tried was absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. We not only got the Family Platter, but we also purchased containers of freshly made hummus, baba ghanoush (of course!), and Turkish salad. It was a match made in heaven! This is now our TO GO place for middle eastern/Mediterranean food. Try it out - you will not be disappointed!

I just found this place searching Google Maps as an alternative to going into the city for Middle Eastern groceries. The store is small but well-stocked and I found everything I was looking for. Better prices than Phila. Their house-made hummus is the best I have had anywhere, ever, hands down. If you try it and don't agree, send me a reply and I will meet you there and pay for your purchase. I am 100% serious.

Atmosphere: 4 stars only because Ammon isn't and eat-in restaurant. It's a small supermarket with a takeout counter. But it is spotlessly clean and the man at the register was very helpful and even offered to try to special-order an item I couldn't find (Gaz-a pistachio nougat candy from Iran.)

Went in looking for a specific ingredient I couldn't find at a chain grocery store - I found it plus so much more! Such a great gem of a store plus the food from the grill is fantastic! Don't sleep on the falafel - best I have EVER had

There was a small store full of Mediterranean stuff specially for Iranian community they had bunch of Sadaf products plus Mediterranean foods.On top of that very friendly seller or owner. He offered me very delicious falafel for free.. I would recommend there for every Mediterranean community. 👍💯

Most authentic shawarma in the entire Philly/South NJ region. Their falafal is tasty. Lentil soup was A+ as well. Friendly staff who make you feel welcome. Pro tip: add the spicy sauce to the shawarma and get Ayran as a side beverage. My stomach is happy, thanks Ammon 👍🏼🌯 will definitely be back again!

I've gotten falafel here a few times, and both times everyone inside was kind, helpful, and welcoming. I don't know price comparisons on that because it's not my normal fare, but the spices and other ingredients they sell are very well-priced.

I really enjoyed my experience today of being a first time visitor and customer at this store! I was even offered coffee that was delicious and it gave me the energy I needed to get through the day. But most importantly the owner and the workers are very friendly very helpful and the meats that I saw were so fresh! I've been looking for a 100% 1st cold press Olive oil locally and I actually now have found it!
Can't wait to return and become a repeat customer!

Stopped in after a long trip from Virginia and wanted to try it out. So owner was very nice. I told him I never had any of this and he said I will take care of it you come to the right place, and he sure did. He gave me a falafel on the house to try and it was amazing. The white sauce that you dip it in so so good. And my meal was combination of chicken and lamb Shawarma. Again, delicious!!!! I will definitely go back again when I come back to New Jersey. Highly rated and highly recommended. 😀

I had such a wonderful experience, they have a variety of Mediterranean staples from various countries. Halal meats and fresh produce. The owner is so hospitable, asked if we needed any help and told me about all the different items in the refrigerated section containing a variety of appetizers dips. He even made me a fresh homemade falafel to try with fresh hummus, absolutely delicious. I cannot speak highly enough of the owner and market.

Chicken over rice with salad, was great. The lemon really comes through. Family liked it.

We were looking for tahini for a recipe and came across this wonderful place. They not only have Lebanese tahini but anything else you could want or need for a Middle Eastern meal. The owner said they have excellent hummus, and after trying it, we agree. He also said that the felafel was the best around and having tried a complimentary serving, we agree. We will be back.
