I’ve been a member for a year and this place has helped my family ward off the skyrocketing prices of groceries. I’ve had some of the best produce of my life at some of the best prices and the community around is equally incredible. Yes, there is member work, but it’s incredibly manageable (3 hours every 6 weeks) and worth the work.

The best produce in the area, amazing prices on many items, and a terrific selection of imported goods. Well worth the membership.

Legendary! The combination of high quality and low prices is unmatched, because it’s a member-cooperative. (Anyone can join, but you have to be a member to walk in the door, so don’t go and be disappointed and leave a one star review. ) They responded to CO-VID19 faster and better than any place else I’ve gone, with plexiglass cashier booths and very limited numbers of shoppers to facilitate social distance.

Excellent produce , fresh and good, and an array of well considered good products and policies. I appreciate the plastic free packaging initiatives for example. Only members can shop here, and all members commit to working a three hour cooperative shift every six weeks (sign up is easy and online) stocking shelves for example or bagging and weighing bulk products. Easy enough , somewhat enjoyable, often educational .

I’ve been a member for over two years and I love it! At first the work slots were something I had to get use to, but it’s once a month and I always have a nice time talking with fellow members about the coop and life! I’ve been able to try so many new things and on a budget. The coop has changed the way I look at food! It’s really great, the produce selection, health and beauty products. It’s got a wonderful variety of the “norm” grocery day to say items. So happy I joined. Come try it out for yourself!

A spectacular grocery institution full of kind people and delicious foods at great prices. Worth the cost of membership and time commitment to have access to unique products and the reasonable prices of the coop.

Not cheap but great value. high quality food and decent prices. They only carry what is fresh so smaller selection of fruits and veggies but the quality is top notch.
Beer and cheese selection is fantastic as well. Meat and fish is less selection / more expensive than sunset park but well priced for park slope.

What is there not to love about this membership-collective food store, often referred to simply as the Coop, or the PSFC? The produce is sourced from organic farms nearby, always fresh, well put together, and comes in seasonal varieties, such as a good selection of apples and pears from upstate New York farms, or tropical fruits from California and Florida. The organic, fair-trade coffee selection is superb. There are many good items from local providers, such as breads from local bakeries, pies, cheeses, sandwiches, snacks, and so many other delicious bites. In addition to the hundreds of bulk or packaged food items, the Coop also sells beers and meats, household items, pet food, cook and nutrition books and yoga supplies. Go to their website to find out more how to join as a member. Open to everyone to join.

Excellent produce (both regular and organic if there is a substantial price differential). Great selection of cheese. Wide selection of beers and other products. Poultry and even some meat and frozen fish. Some prepared foods. CBD and a wide variety of supplements. 25% above wholesale. You won't find better prices on most items elsewhere. BUT you have to be a member and that involves working in the store doing something 2.5 hours every 6 weeks (receiving, stocking, walking people to their cars, working on the newsletter, office work, cashier, whatever is needed to keep a store running). If you can handle the work requirement it is definitely worth it.

Joined the Co-op this past Spring and it's been a great experience. The quality of the produce and products is great, comparable to Union Market and other places in the neighborhood. The shelves are well stocked and if you need something, there's usually a shift worker in the isle who can help you. Shifts are (currently) every six weeks, so there's room to sign up. People are friendly and willing to help if you have questions on your shift. Overall great community to be a part of.

Cheap and good food. Excellent produce much locally (within 500 miles, ie one day's drive) sourced. 25% above wholesale. You won't find better prices for most things anywhere else. Organic and regular produce if the prices differ greatly; if the prices are similar then mostly organic, but still much cheaper than other organic stores. Excellent selection of cheeses and beer, a reasonable selection of meat, poultry, and frozen fish. Some prepared foods and pet foods. Members only. Accepting new members.
Nov 2022: Currently workers and shoppers must be masked. Members work 2 3/4 hours every six weeks, which is a change from prepandemic 4 weeks.
Jun 2023: masking no longer required.
Jan 2024: masks required on wed and Thurs.

This food cooperative is an experiment in collective action that benefits human beings — not faceless corporations.

As a member for nearly 30 years, I am proud of our work to make this place an ethical and inexpensive way to buy good food.

We care about ourselves, our families, our local community, and the wider community, including farmers, workers on farms, delivery workers, and the plants, and (for some of us) the animals we eat.

Let’s celebrate the Park Slope Food Coop!

The Food Coop is a gift of heaven. I‘m a proud member since we lived in the neighborhood. You know how special this place and community is once you leave town for a bit longer and look for something similar. Thanks to all the members making it a reality every day! Bonus. You can ask any member in the store at any time about any product and have a vivid conversation about taste, quality, options, recipes, food in general and life — priceless 😊

Since moving from New York to Dublin, Ireland, I miss certain places in Brooklyn. The Park Slope Food Coop is one of those. The produce is amazing and shopping there always inspired me to try vegetables I had not tried before -- quite often these were so unfamiliar I would have to ask the cashier how it could be cooked or what other preparation might be needed. There was also a great section of "free from" foods and that worked for our family since a couple family members have been diagnosed with celiac disease. Here in Ireland, celiac disease is common (over half the population carries the gene predisposing people to it), but the coop had a selection of gluten free foods superior even to what I can find here in Dublin. Believe me, it's worth it doing the required workshifts (I used to do my own and my husband's) - not only for the savings on the food bill but also for the quality and variety of the products offered at the PSFC.

We have been members for almost two years now and it has been truly an amazing experience. Prices are fantastic and food is amazing quality. We thought at first that it wouldn't be for us but after working few shifts it actually became very devoted and it really makes you value food in different way. You learn a lot and meet amazing people. What's even more amazing is that we no longer have to look at what we buy as the coop makes sure the food is of highest quality. Not to mention our grocery savings that we compared to years before are around 30% cheaper and that is a significant saving.

By far the best place to buy organic food with the best variety and the best price.

Just compare walnuts for example.

It does require members to work once a month.
