Cozy, contemplative bakery with top-notch pastries and excellent drip coffee. I bet the chai is also very good but I didn’t have a chance to return for seconds. The croissant items were really nicely done - crisp and rich at the same time. We had the bear claw, ham&cheese croissant, and the apple turnover.

I'm glad we stopped in! I bought rye sourdough loaf, a baguette, a bearclaw, and a chile cheese croissant. My husband loved the bear claw, and I loved my croissant! I don't eat pork, and it's not easy to find a savory croissant without ham in it.

The sourdough loaf is heavy! Our exchange student misses bread back home (Germany), and I know she is going to love this surprise when we get it back to TX.
We ate half of the baguette on our car ride home.
The people of Taos and visitors are lucky to have this bakery!

Excellent Croissants, "pain au chocolat" (chocolate croissant") and delicious bread. Extremely nice owner. We love it!

Hello! Just wanted to let you both know how much Haley and I (Donna) enjoyed and still are enjoying all the goodies we just brought home from Santa Fe in Chomp Hall! It was so lovely to meet a fellow Red Raider! You can taste the quality of the ingredients in every single delicious bite!! The loaves are huge and so reasonably priced!!! Thanks for all the love and effort you put into producing High quality nutritious foods! It shows and tastes!!! We loaded up our freezer until we can visit again and will tell our families. Just so delicious!

The best chai I’ve ever had! Hot and balanced - so amazing! Croissant were so delicious and ingredients were top quality! We did not get to try the breads but the smell was incredible, but you can get just a slice. A hidden gem. Can’t wait to come back to Taos next year!

Taste and smell memories are uniquely evocative and have the ability to help us recall past times, places, and people. One bite of the apple strudel empanada and I was instantly transported through the years to my mother’s kitchen, and the flavors of her homemade apple pie. I wept tears at the joy of this recollection. This is the power of good food made with love, skill, and patience.
Everything I sampled from these master bakers was extraordinary. The freshness of the ingredients and the quality shine in bold flavor combinations. The baking techniques on display have clearly been earned by years of hard work and dedication. Thank you for sharing your passion for baking and skill with us. Much love.
I will see you again soon!

Savory breads and pastries that are to die for!!! I particularly LOVE their chocolate croissants and one of their Christmas specials, the panettone bread. Very yummy!! What's more?! Wild Leaven Bakery is a family-owned and family-friendly business led by a lovely couple who enjoys filling their customer's palates and stomaches with high-quality food made from locally-grown ingredients. Thus, if you have not yet eaten one of their goodies, make sure to stop to one of their stores (in Taos or Sante Fe) and get you one. The only inconvenience is that you will become addicted to one of their succulent foods. :)

Best apple turnover I’ve ever had. My daughter said the same about her croissant. There is a bakery in Evanston, IL, Hewn, which has a similar vibe and quality. Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor, MI, as well. But, Wild Leaven, is outstanding. My only regret? We didn’t buy a loaf of bread to go. Can’t wait to come back!

Go here. Seriously if you are considering going here, do it!!! I got the green Chile croissant on a whim (we came looking for a green Chile cheddar loaf but came too late in the day) and came back the next day to have another one! Great lamination on the croissant, the green Chile was just spicy enough to cut through some of the fat of the croissant. So so so delicious! Can’t wait to visit again!

Hello, my name is Agustin, and I wanted to clarify that fk vargas's 1-star review is not true. I was the only employee working that day. Thank you for caring about me, but at no time was I mistreated and I always felt very comfortable. I was working at the bakery for a little over a month and I wanted to thank the owners for the good treatment and kindness they showed me. I recommend this job for the good pay and benefits such as being offered lunch during work hours.

Thank you again for the scrumptious lunch and the sample of your exquisite croissant. Our daughter, Kat, French pastry chef, said ‘beautiful honeycomb!!’ when she saw the photo. Bravo! And thanks again.

I LOVE Wild Leaven! Their soups are delicious and their sourdough bread is to die for. And then there’s the pastries….my favorites are the apple empanadas and the cinnamon buns. SO GOOD. The only reason I give 4 stars for atmosphere and service is I wish there was more seating for lunch, but if you’ve never been there, go! You won’t be disappointed.

We stayed Taos for the first time and everyone recommended Michel's bakary but we dicided to check this place. That was the best decision because the croissant i had was one of the best croissant i ever had. It was crunchy outside and moist inside. We had chai, spicy beef turnover (not spicy but local chilli spice was in it) and almond croissant and the price was 22 dollars.

Best bakery in New Mexico! What a treat it is to have this bakery in our little town. The croissants & cinnamon rolls, the epanadas & pizza - all with super local ingredients including the flour!!! I have lived in Paris, their baguette is just like you can find in France 🥐🫶✨ so happy they also attend the Taos Farmers Market!

We come once a week to stock up on bread and pastries, I've never had anything from here that wasn't delicious! The chocolate chip spelt cookies and the chili pecan cookies are our favorite. The staff are friendly and informative and it's cool to see them working and preparing when we stop in.

Best bread in Taos! They have so many different types, all of which are deliciously well-crafted. I go for the bread and soup, but can't leave without a delicious pastry or two. Thank you Wild Leaven!
