I have ordered meat processed from many places but wasn’t what I wanted. Black River Meats had the best I have ever had. They hang and process it to my desire. I am satisfied with everything I have gotten and will go back to them for more. They know what they are doing and will recommend them to anyone I know. Great job Black River Meats!!

I just picked up my 1/4 of beef and I was so very impressed with the service and the cuts look amazing!!! Vaccum sealed and labeled perfectly!!! I will definitely be back!!!

I have been a customer since the opening. The price is higher than the meat that I bought before at a local grocery but the taste is much like the meat my family grew when I was young. I doubted I would ever find meat that tasty again but I have now thanks to Black River Meats.

Bought beef from a farmer who used this processor. Sirloin steaks were 1/8”-1/2” thick in the same cut and about the size of a large dinner plate. Ribeyes were also uneven. We have to thaw the steaks enough to cut into smaller portions since we can get at least 6 large portions out of a two steak package. I understand they are just starting out, but it’s hard to properly cook an uneven steak. Ground beef was spotty with some tubes being mostly lean and others being mostly fat. Found chunks of bone in the ground beef. I’ve been buying beef straight from farmers since 2013 and this is the first time I’ve experienced any of these things. On the plus side, Vacuum packaging was well done!

We were impressed with Black River Meats from the start when we were contacted that our half was ready for processing. This was our first time ordering a half and the lady was very helpful explaining the different kind of cuts and how it would be packaged. They were very fast with completing our processing. When we picked up the meat, we were pleased with how well everything was packaged and labeled. We have tried nearly every cut so far and everything has tasted great. However, there is one exception! Every package of burger we have used so far has had chunks of bone in them. This is not just a coincidental finding, we mean many chunks of bone. We unfortunately have to be very careful when we eat it and tell our guests to do the same as we will not be responsible for their $800+ dentist bill for a cracked tooth. Never in our lives have we had chunks of bone in any hamburger we have ate. We are not sure why this happened, but our 40 lbs of burger did not meet our expectations. Maybe we will get lucky and find a package without any bones in it. Hoping for the best…

Not impressed with this processor. Took 3 young beef to have butchered there as our regular butcher was out 1 year for processing meat. 1st animal was butchered in February of 2022 and instead of receiving 2 tenderloins, we received 1. We didn't say anything. 2 months ago we butchered 2 more 14 month old steers. Again, each beef was missing 1 Tenderloin half. We did call up this time and they were willing to give us the other missing tenderloins for each animal, hence 2 stars instead of 1. At this point it is not a coincidence anymore that the best part of the animal is always missing. We will not be back. Who knows what else they kept for themselves...

Ordered a quarter of beef from a gentleman who was using this company for the first time. I got a few steaks and 70% of the order was hamburger as that is what I use most of. Fried up my first 2 pounds for a soup and it had more grease and water than the hamburger I buy from grocery store. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Also asked for some small soup bones for my dog which I never received.

Have purchased a 1/2 beef twice from them and was satisfied with the first one but the second was kind of a nightmare. Ordered the product a week before scheduled pickup and confirmed order and price two days before pickup. Drove two hours and when told we were there to pick it up we waited a very long time only to be told they sold it to someone else. They then put together a package similar to what we ordered and we left a little discouraged. After trying the meat after getting it home we found the burger (50 pounds worth) to be inedible. Both my wife and I got sick from it and when cooked (in a fry pan or on the grill) it almost turns like rubber. Called and let them know about what happened and was told by one of the ladies she would let the owner know. Has been four days and have not heard back. Will end up donating it to Humane Society or wildlife park. VERY disappointed in quality of product.

Owner replaced original product and we are now satisfied with our burger.

Follow up - was given 90 packs of burger when we actually returned 100 - had to take new stuff to different butcher to have breakfast sausage made as this batch wasn't much better. Ate about half and fed the rest to local wildlife as it was still bad even mixing it with pork and spices. Hope they get things figured out

Took a 14 month heifer grain fed, and they said they would have it done in 3 weeks. Took 6 weeks, cuts weren't even close to professionally. Steaks were from different size steaks that couldn't have been form the same animal, and all the meat was tough and stringy and tasteless. There is no way that meat came from that young of a cow. They offered to exchange all the meat but when we came there only the hamburger and after an argument wouldn't even exchange that.

When filling out the cut sheet we chose bacon. Little did we know it was going to be side pork or belly pork. Apparently they don't disclose they do not smoke anything, hams either. The meat came in a big slab that needed to be processed someplace else. Very misleading. If you are looking for a new butcher look else where.

They took a long time. And didn’t smoke the bacon or ham. I would not recommend this place
