Dexter's Inn

This beautiful and accommodating inn sets the standard for customer service and provided amenities. I just stayed here over the weekend for my best friend’s wedding and it was nothing short of perfect. The staff care about your stay and place an extra special emphasis on providing the best guest experience possible. One of the reasons I loved this for the wedding was the spacious bedrooms and overall convenience factor. Additionally, the large recreational room in “the barn” (where there are also rooms) was the perfect area for guests to relax in the company of friends and family. If you find yourself looking to book a wedding at Dexter’s Inn, I assure you, you will be more than satisfied with your decision.

What a magical place! My friends and I stayed in the cottage at Dexter’s Inn during the first weekend in April. Even during mud season, it is a gorgeous setting to hike and explore. What a cozy place to sit by the fire and catch-up and/or sit in the screened in porch for an afternoon cocktail. As if that wasn’t enough to make us want to make this an annual girl’s weekend destination, the delicious morning brunch seals the deal. Can’t wait to come back!

We had a great visit on our way to the Woodstock Ice Castles this February vacation. The Inn is absolutely gorgeous. The owners made our family feel right at home. We drank by the indoor and outdoor fire places. The kids soaked in the outdoor jacuzzi and made snow angels immediately following again and again and again. We played ping pong in the game room. My kids preferred the Inn over the ice castles. It was a perfect gateaway with the most comfortable beds. We are already planning to return next school vacation. I can't wait to see this place in the summer. We woke up to the smell of bacon cooking downstairs. I loved the homemade waffles. Maria was kind enough to made a to go plate so my kids could enjoy their 3rd breakfast from the car. A great place for children and parents alike. It's warm, cozy and full of charm. Thank for for all the great memories.

My girlfriends and I had the most restorative weekend in the Cottage at Dexter's Inn. The Cottage sleeps 10 with two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, full kitchen, cozy living room with a fireplace and a great screened porch that we will surely enjoy when we return in the warmer months. We snowshoed, soaked in the hot-tub, ate delicious breakfasts in the main Inn and lounged by one of the three fireplaces to choose from. The Innkeepers, Maria and Paul, their whole family and the rest of the wonderful team made our weekend so memorable. It is especially heart warming to see their family come together and run this well oiled machine. Maria's mother in the kitchen making breakfast, baking cookies and setting out mulled cider (drool!). Her father, brother and husband plowing the foot of snow we got that day, and of course Maria and her husband Paul, seamlessly everywhere all at once and yet incredibly present to provide the most attentive service, I CANNOT wait to return. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

This place was spectacular. We had our wedding here this weekend and all of the staff were incredible. Everyone was super helpful, they worked with our other vendors and pulled out all the stops to make sure everything went perfectly. The rooms are all very nice, the entire property is well maintained and the entire wedding had the run of the whole inn and property. Highly recommend for reunions, weddings or other events. We will be coming back in the future!

Absolutely blown away! We stayed as guests for a wedding and it felt like being at an adult summer camp. Their website does not do them justice! They have a million ways to keep their guests entertained, and the staff was on hand what seemed like 24/7 to be as helpful as they could. We needed zip ties and I asked on the off chance and one of the lovely women running the inn made some appear in less than two minutes! Just an all around incredible experience, highly recommend!

Stayed here for a wedding and it was absolutely perfect! The room (in the Annex) was spacious and clean and even had a mini fridge, which I wasn't expecting. The owners and staff were all so kind and thoughtful and made sure the wedding went smoothly and all the guests were happy. Breakfast was hot and tasty. Overall, a really lovely experience!

My wife and I just got married at Dexter's Inn this past weekend and had a great experience. We both have very active families and the venue was perfect for keeping people busy leading up to the wedding and during cocktail hour. The staff were great and accommodating to all our requests and last minute changes. We also really liked how customizable pretty much all aspects of the wedding weekend were. Overall it was everything we were hoping it would be and I will definitely be coming back again.

Dexter's Inn is a very special place. My husband and I first discovered it in Oct 2019, when it was recommended for our wedding by a friend. We were looking for a place where our family could stay all together and we could really spend time with our guests in a relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. Dexter's Inn is exactly this. We then scheduled our wedding in June 2020 and when it became clear we would need to postpone due to COVID, Innkeeper John Augustine made it so easy for us to postpone and reschedule our wedding. Our wedding weekend in July 2021 was amazing. It rained most of the weekend and was cold for July but it didn't matter in the least, because our whole family and friends were together. The game room in the annex building gave the kids a place to hang out all day and the adults a place to hang out all night. The grounds were beautiful and the colors and wedding photos were gorgeous. The tent was spacious enough for all of our guests and everyone had so much fun. The day after the wedding we were able to use the grill and host a casual BBQ for our family and friends, and swim in the pool and play yard games. John really allowed us to use the facilities as if it was our home for the weekend and we very much appreciated this trust. His staff became like family as we got to know them well during our stay. We look forward to going back for yearly vacations with friends and family!

What a find!! We stumbled across this gem of a b&b while visiting friends in Sunapee, NH. As soon as we walked in the door, we were welcomed by warm lights and holiday decor, enticing aromas and sweet treats. The hosts, Lisa and Maria are so friendly and made us feel so comfortable in their lovely inn.
We snowshoed for miles on the backwoods trails. We warmed our feet by the fireplace. We laid back in the library and enjoyed quiet reading moments. We loosened up in the outdoor hot tub! We ate maybe too many sweets (yeah that was me?) and slept like the dead in quiet comfy beds, waking to smells of bread baking in the kitchen below.
I would come back here in a heartbeat and look forward to our next visit!

I highly recommend a stay Dexter's Inn. We just got got back from our group (knitting) retreat and had an absolutely wonderful time. The Inn itself has so much character and is warm and cozy. The grounds are beautiful and the location is perfect with a nice view of Mt Sunapee. It is very clean and John and his staff take good care of their guests! The food was excellent as well. All in all, I didn't want to leave and look forward to our next stay at Dexter's Inn!

Went here for my cousin's wedding. What a gorgeous place. Anything you needed the owners got it for you they were so prepared and courteous. From the owner to the staff everybody was pleasant and went out of their way to make sure you had everything you needed. The grounds are gorgeous. Some of the rooms the beds weren't very comfortable but the bathrooms were all redone. Great water pressure and hot water. And outstanding breakfast choices.

Great Inn with all the amenities one needs. Our room had a king-size bed and a bathroom and both were very cozy and warm. John and Helen are great hosts. Breakfast was amazing with a long list of choices to pick from. The cost for a night was very affordable and included breakfast. It is also 7 minutes away from the Sunapee resort. Would definitely recommend!

We used Dexter’s Inn for our wedding weekend in July 2022 and had the best experience. When looking for a venue we wanted a place that we could truly make our own and a property where our guests could hang out with us and with one another. Dexter’s quickly stood out as that venue. Here are some of the reasons:

The Full Property is Yours - When you book Dexter’s Inn, you get full access to all the rooms at the Inn (for your family and prized guests) as well as the property (lawn, pool, tennis courts, game room, etc.) and we made full use of that. This enabled us to do an event on Friday as well as the wedding Saturday. It also meant that all our closest friends and family were on-site to hang out those days and nights.

We hosted a large (120 people) outdoor event the Friday before our wedding with a BBQ that night. We played music, played lawn games (many of which Dexter’s provided) and enjoyed our guests for the day. In the morning of our wedding after breakfast (which is delicious every morning), we played pickleball, basketball and lawn games with on-site guests before getting ready for the wedding.

And lastly, we loved the game room. It was a great place to chill at night and to have the after party!

Dexter’s Staff - The staff at Dexter’s were tremendous. They went above and beyond helping us with setup, day of preparation, wedding tasks and cleanup. They were invaluable to everything running smoothly and were a joy to work with.

Beautiful Scenery - With Mount Sunapee in the background, the surrounding woods and well manicured estate, there were picture opportunities galore. It provided tremendous photos for the wedding day as well as great photos for the day before. It also was unto itself without other homes or properties near to distract from activities.

Make it Your Own - Unlike most venues we looked at, Dexter’s enabled us to bring in our own vendors, food, drink and other decorations. By buying our own snacks, drinks and alcohol we saved a lot of budget. There’s also a ton of storage on site for cakes, drinks, food and ice on-site while being 15 minutes from the supermarket and NH liquor store.

While we used Rolf and his wife (Dexter’s preferred caterer) for appetizers and dinner we used outside vendors as bartenders, the band, photographer and our cake. It really provided great flexibility to make the day and experience our own.

We really couldn’t have imagined a better wedding weekend with our guests and many said it was the most fun wedding they had been to! We are so lucky to have chosen Dexter’s for our special day.

Definitely take a visit to see the venue!

I don’t know where to start with dexters! My husband and I just got married here and it really could not have been more perfect, and the staff had so much to do with that. They made each and every step of the way so great and helped so much. Day of they were on top of everything and offered so much help, and we’re just so kind and warm to me, my husband, and all of our guests. I would recommend getting married here 100 times over.

Dexter inn is a great place to stay and enjoy the outdoors in the Sunapee region of NH.

We cannot say enough about how wonderful our wedding weekend was at Dexter’s Inn. We knew we wanted a venue where we could host family and friends for the weekend, not just one evening - Dexter’s was the perfect place. We hosted Lawn Olympics for our friends, as well as rehearsal dinner on Friday; family and friends were then able to enjoy the property Saturday while we prepped for the wedding on-site. The outdoor ceremony site was stunning, overlooking the mountains and the tented reception (catered by on-site caterer, Rolf) was perfect. We were able to host a brunch the following morning as well. By having everything on-site, in one location, it was easy for us to maximize the time we spent with our friends and family, while being incredibly convenient for our guests. John was fantastic to work with - he is calm, professional and experienced in running events; he allows a lot of creative freedom with the space, while offering suggestions of what has worked/not worked in the past. John is available and responsive to questions throughout the planning process; on wedding day, he was helping run the show as the on-site coordinator, but you never would have known - he worked behind the scenes to make sure things ran seamlessly. We could not have imagined a better wedding weekend, and it was all built upon the foundation of our venue choice - we HIGHLY recommend Dexter’s for your wedding. So many of our guests still talk about our wedding as one of their favorite weddings ever, which I attribute to the quality time we were able to spend with everyone over the course of the weekend at Dexter’s.

Great little cottage option for a quick ski getaway! House/main areas were very clean and the owner John is great! The cottage had everything we needed! Was a great time and only 5 minutes from mt. Sunapee!
