Puny John's BBQ

Staff was great. You order your food at the counter and they bring it out to you, super quick. Ordered the sampler platter which came with chicken, riblets, pulled pork, sausage and brisket with two sides. We chose the spicy Mac n cheese and spicy baked beans and then two rolls. Everything is a dry rub and there are about six different bbq sauces to choose from. Everything was absolutely fantastic. I will make this a stop any time I am in town. I highly recommend this place.

Puny John's BBQ is the BEST place to eat in Tombstone, hands down! They even have vegan options. The staff are kind, talented, and professional. I love this family owned shop and am enormously grateful for their dedication to excellence. I work at the Cabal Wine Cellar nearby and they are my go-to when I need a GREAT lunch or when I surprise my family with a full rack of their decadent St. Louis style BBQ ribs, spicy Mac n cheese and their heavenly homemade BBQ sauces ~ YUMMMMMMM❣❣❣❣❣

Me and my coworkers were greeted by the wonderful staff they have, we immediately took our sits and went through the menu. I had pull pork with three sides and a rootbeer. The BBQ here was super delicious! 😋
My buddy also had the BBQ ribs and man I wished I would've changed my order lol. Great place and they also have a pretty set-up for outside dining which I think would be great for evening dinner.
All I know is whatever you order here will make you happy!

The best Celiac safe, gluten free, restaurant in Tombstone!!!
Eaten here successfully three times.

Though off the main boardwalk and somewhat out of sight, if you're wanting BBQ anywhere in the area, this is worth a stop.

The pulled pork was excellent, the spicy mac-and-cheese was unique and awesome. The coleslaw was what you'd expect and very good. I don't put sauce on BBQ if it's awesome and smoked properly, but I sampled them anyway and they're very good.

My buddy had the beans and chopped brisket and said both were amazing.

The patio is shaded and nice to sit outside if the weather is good. The dining area and outdoor patio don't have the same old-timey set up as the main strip, but the BBQ is well-worth the stop.

Note: a lot of reviews say this BBQ is expensive. Those people must not eat much good BBQ because good BBQ is never cheap and literally takes more than 12 hours to prepare. I assume the people saying this is expensive have never started a smoker up at 8:00pm so their family BBQ was ready by noon the next day.

I thought this place was good not great. The base barbecue I was not impressed with but they had some sweet barbecue sauce you could add to the ribs and I really liked that. The young staff is nice but all over the place. Once you order the food comes out quickly which I greatly appreciated.

The customer service here is great! We did the family meal option. The ribs were good. I preferred the brisket and the pork, both had a great Smoky flavor. My husband preferred the spicy BBQ sauce, I liked the prickly pear. The baked beans and Mac and cheese were tastey. They were both supposedly spicy but the spice wasn't that strong, not like the BBQ sauce which I was too wimpy to eat. My kids loved the pork.

The meat was so tender that it just fell off the bone. The pulled pork was also tender. Loved the hot sauce, 7 to choose from.

This was my second time eating here and once again the food was fabulous! Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. I had todays special, the French dip. It was fabulous and a very filling meal with no sides! Others in my group had brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and they enjoyed the coleslaw and mac n cheese. Picture is of the French dip. My friends couldnt stop raving about how good the food was!

This place is delicious! First off if you want a discount, go visit the Gunflight - Stunt Show (Comedy). We ordered the Puny Pie & the 1 LB baked potato. I HIGHLY recommend the Puny Pie, it was so delicious. The baked potato was good too. The store owner was walking around & checking on customers, he was very friendly.

Wow, what can I say? As a native Texan, I have had some really great BBQ ribs and have been hard pressed to find BQQ outside of Texas that gives us a run for the money. Now, that being said, Johns BBQ ribs were by far the best tasting, tender and moist ribs I’ve EVER tasted! The meat on the half rack I ordered literally fell right off the bone! The BBQ sauce was absolutely delicious, left me both in awe and speechless to the fact that a BBQ restaurant outside of Texas could serve such amazing BBQ! I had to ask the cashier to bring John out so that I could shake the hand of the man who made the best ribs I’ve ever had! After talking to John for about 5 minutes I came to realize that he does not cook for money, he cooks for people! He let me know that he smokes the ribs for 20 hours and the BBQ sauce is homemade by he and his wife! Now, not many restaurants will put that much time, money and effort into making a true, one of a kind meal, John does not produce a meal, he creates a meal, you can taste the hard work, time and passion put into every bite you take. Please, pay no attention to the negative reviews, they are nothing but anomalies. This restaurant is the very definition of southern hospitality and southern cooking! I was even taken aback by how the sweet tea was so pleasing. Every aspect of my meal went together hand in hand. I could not have asked for a better way to cap off an amazing first time in Tombstone, AZ. John, with those ribs you are welcome in Texas anytime!

Met the owner on the street. Asked him some tourist info. Then asked for food recommendations. He listed off several. The last one he mentioned was his, he did that out of respect to the other restaurant owners he knew. Puny John's had awesome ribs and pulled pork!

So good! The food was amazing! Slow cooked to perfection and they make all of their sauces from scratch! Definitely come visit if you are in Tombstone Az, you won't be disappointed.

Great barbecue. Probably the best in town. 2lb potato with smoked brisket and the fixings. Wife had the pulled pork with some mac and cheese, outstanding. Great service.

Absolutely incredible bbq!!! Brisket and pulled pork were amazing. I wanted to try the ribs but i couldn't eat that much. Also the bbq sauces (7 different types all home made). Habereno and orginal were favorites. 😊

Amazingly deeeelicious! Loved the habanero BBQ sauce with the brisket and ribs. Baked beans and the green beans are also to die for! Ordered the sampler plate. Outdoor patio with live music was a great touch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon during Helldorado Days.
