Wild Onion Restaurant

We got to go last week and take my step dad who was visiting from CT. It was our first time as well. It was FABULOUS! We have lived here for 3 years and The Wild Onion is by far my favorite restaurant we have visited!! We loved the food, we loved the staff, we loved our waitress, we loved the restaurant and the atmosphere and all of the decorations. We cannot wait to come back! Probably tomorrow night!!

I don’t think I can say enough about this place! It’s was a beautiful day we asked to sit outside. They were hospitable i then asked if our dog could as well. Yes of course we love dogs. I want to be a dog after the love they show ours. They asked if he like some water and he got his own food plate as well. The food was amazing the price very reasonable. It was was a home style. So endless sides of eggs tomato hash brown casserole. The sweet teas was on point. I could go on & on !

My wife and I visited The Wild Onion on Saturday evening. We were there when they opened at 5 PM. There were several people already waiting for them to open.

I admit that I have been by this place many times and hadn't paid much attention to it because it never seemed to be open when I was there. It turns out the are only open a few days each week and open at 5 PM.

The restaurant is a quaint little place with a lot of character. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was. Then, I could smell the good food that was cooking. This is a family style restaurant. If you're not familiar with that, it means that they serve the sides in bowls for the entire table with unlimited refills. Their menu changes depending on what fresh food they have available. All of the sides come with every entree. If you order a vegetable plate, all the sides are included.

I had a steak. It was very good. My wife had the vegetable plate which included squash, black-eyed peas, cucumbers, and hush puppies (they call them something else that I can't remember now). We finished the meal off with dessert, which is also included with each meal. Everything (includind the desserts) are homemade and delicious.

The service was outstanding as well. I think we have a new place that will be added to our favorites.

I liked that I got all of the sides listed included in my meal. At other restaurants it's hard to choose 1 or 2 sides. And I liked that a dessert was included to fulfill my sweet tooth. The fried foods tasted handbreaded(it's hard to find handbreaded squash). I really liked the gravy that was in my mashed potatoes.

This restaurant reaches into the nostalgic atmosphere of your grandma’s kitchen. With the impeccable waitresses such as Mary and Parker, it makes you feel like not a restaurant customer but a family member. The food here is always unique and flavorful with a changing menu to always leave you curious of what could be your next soulful meal.

We're not sure when The Wild Onion re-opened, but we wish that we'd known sooner. We went for lunch after church and found an unexpected blessing! Everything was outstanding. The meat entrees were perfectly paired with delicious, home cooked vegetables, served family style. As if that wasn't enough, we got our choice of wonderful desserts served by a courteous and friendly staff!

I would have to label this one as a "Hidden Little Jewel". Country-style cooking with different menu options daily. Order a main menu item and then side dishes are brought out until you've had enough. Topped off with different desert options every day. Extremely nice staff!!

This is a very nice experience. Good food good people .. reasonable pricing . The family style .. serving is wonderful with refills.

Desert was interesting and good. I had oranges in cinnamon.. I know .. it was tasty

This place was great! They had a small Sunday menu but you could choose from fried chicken, pulled pork, meatloaf or vegetables for your main dish! Then they have 5 sides (collard greens, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese and cucumber salad) that they serve Family style and were all you could eat. So it was like 12.95 for the meal, endless sides, plus a small sliver of dessert (choice between carrot cake, bread pudding and some kind of cobbler I think) at the end! And you could take home leftovers! I had never tried collard greens but they were great and their sweet potato casserole was to die for!
The people were all super sweet as well! We will be back!

Wow! This place was amazing. Seen an ad for this on Facebook so glad we came here tonight. Please don’t skip on this place!!!

Very nice atmosphere, great food, and awesome service very pleased with our first visit.

Waitress was Parker, she was great. This place is amazing. Everything is wonderful. Cabbage was sweet but not too sweet, slaw was perfect. country fried steak crispy, gravy wonderful. chicken & dumplings were great (they put a bit of pepper in it so may not be perfect for kids), beef tips, pot roast... I had about everything. I actually came back the next day because it was so good - they told me the main cook was out of town so... wow, if that was the backup... I'm definitely going back. deserts are amazing as well. Can't say enough good things, I will be going back for sure. They said they may start opening more often and I asked them not to do that... just leave it the way it is! Don't change anything!

Finally got to try here and honestly it was an excellent experience!!! The waitress was so sweet with my kids and so Respectful and helpful! Food was Excellent and my family was Happy!! Thank You for Excellent Experience and we will be back!!!

We live nearby, and finally tried The Wild Onion. We were amazed at the fresh Southern homemade food, with endless sides!

We all enjoyed our food, it was like eating my late grandmother’s cooking, absolutely delicious.

We will be back weekly! So glad to have decided to finally try it! Highly recommend!

Great little restaurant with great service and plenty of food. Willing to stay open late to provide service to my daughter and I who had just finished a game in Randleman. Didn't skimp on the food or experience. My daughters new favorite restaurant according to her.

So glad The Wild Onion is back! It was sorely missed. This kind of home style cooking is rare in this area and a dying breed. The staff and the owner/chef are humble and wonderful at their job! The food is consistently great and if you dine in, the fixings don’t stop until you say so. The price is very reasonable especially with a small delicious dessert included. Don’t miss this gem right here in our small town. I don’t think you will regret it. Check their Facebook page for the fixed price dinner selection.

We were coming back from a Marketplace purchase, it was supper time, so we decided to try this place. Looked cute from the outside, is even cuter on the inside! They are only open Wed-Fri nights and have a different menu every night. This Friday, was grill night. They have a rib eye, crab cake sandwich, salmon, fish fry, pot roast, gumbo and more. You get all 4 sides including a small dessert at the end. All for a very reasonable price. Give them a try; you won't be disappointed. And you won't leave hungry!

Excellent meal if you like to eat healthy.

My wife and I are new to the area and happened to spot this colorful restaurant while traveling to Randelman, NC. We loved the decor, the friendly attentive wait staff and the good. The family style vegetables along with a reasonable size entree were terrific. A small dessert with the meal was a bonus. We ordered a to go vegetable plate and with leftovers had enough for another meal. We are definitely planning our next trip back.

Awesome atmosphere and my prime rib was awesome. We will be coming back.

The food was really good. Not to salty but flavorful. There is always plenty to eat. They have been closed for sometime and was over joyed to hear they had reopened. If youve never been it will remind you of family mealtime at grandma's house. Where the table is beautiful and the food is abundant. The plates the food is served on are varied like you might see in a exlarge family. Great family atmosphere. You get the choice of meat and all the veggies offered that day which is like 4 of them bread and a drink. Left the table feeling full and extremely happy. The price is as good as their food. You can take it home or eat there. You will not regret making this your choice for dinner tonight. Check their hours and days. Thursday, Friday and Saturday i think right now are their only nights they will serve. Best bet call 1st. Have no doubt you will enjoy your experience there.
