I visited today at 8:30 AM with my wife and son. The neon open sign was flashing as we walked in. The only other person in the building was the librarian on duty, behind a desk. She immediately scowled and said "Can I help you with something?"

"We're here to read some books together" my wife said, which one would think was a perfectly normal thing to want to do in a library.

"I have kids coming in for the summer reading program at 10, it would be better if you came back in the afternoon" she snapped at us.

After we haggled a bit and promised to leave before her ever so important event scheduled more than an hour away begins, she said we could stay but "just make sure you don't mess anything up" Dripping with ire every word, for some bizarre reason.

Okay, so some mean lady bullied my family in a public resource that's she's supposed to be the champion of. Whatever, who cares. We went to the nearby sound park and had a fine time. It's too bad the dinosaur place a block over is closed Mondays. (I was able to discern they didn't want anyone to come in because they didn't have a flashing open sign in the window.)

What's concerning is that this woman doesn't just speak to adult library would-be-visitors, she speaks to children. Sure, it's possible this was a one of incident.

From your perspective review reader, it's also possible I'm just some wacko exaggerating, or that I did or said something to warrant such a response.

Of course it's also possible that someone who's sitting in the courthouse next door dealing with the consequences of a drug charge might have had a very different life if only there was a welcoming place for them to sit and read a decade ago.

Only the local librarian knows for sure.

Try to call and they keep hanging up the phone. What is the use of having a phone in your place if you refuse to answer it.
