I finally got a chance to stop here for dinner today and I was not disappointed. I had the steak, green beans, and mashed potatoes and it was all cooked to perfection! 👌

This place is a hidden treasure!! Well worth the drive from anywhere for the amazing chicken fried steak, catfish, and handmade onion rings. Great value with generous portions. Very attentive, friendly staff. Dining area is so fun with lots of local history historical memorabilia and beautiful plants. Lovely view, too!

Catfish strips were great. Sweet potato fries, salad and lemon meringue pie. I'm drooling again writing this.

Stopped by on our way home. Food was really good and service was good. Husband had a ribeye. Cooked and tasted lovely. I had the chicken tenders with buffalo sauce. Both were really good. Glad we found this place

I've come here as a kid and decided to take my wife up to it as we were passing thru headed towards Fort worth. Still a great place as I remember it as a kid!! Sad to see the historical items at the hills base falling apart so badly. But they are running a fund raiser in the restaurant to get it all repaired and restored! Definitely great food and a very friendly atmosphere!!

My family went here on a Saturday afternoon. Went in and saw the 'Seat Yourself' sign, and easily found a spot to seat all 7 of us. The waitress was quick to greet us, took our drink orders, and brought out the drinks and rolls promptly. Once food was ordered it came out quickly, was hot, and tasted fantastic.
If you're ever traveling on I-20 in Texas between Ft Worth and Abilene, this is a great little diner to stop at.

Great food! All of their sides were flavorful and the smothered steak was perfect 👌 (per my husband). Little history tidbits scattered throughout the restaurant and friendly wait staff.

We arrived just after they opened on Dec. 21st. Driving DFW to Abilene it is the perfect place to stop.
We both had chicken fried steak and it was as good as any we have had elsewhere. The food actually tasted home made. Really enjoyed it and the portions were big.
Our waitress was 5 stars too. Friendly and efficient. My coffee cup was never empty.
All I can say is skip the Smokestack and eat on the hill.

Driven by this place so many times on the highway and finally decided to stop. Best decision we’ve made in a long time! Chicken fried steak was FANTASTIC. Large portions, friendly staff and interesting town history on the front of the menu. Really happy with the experience, 10/10…would recommend.

I was doing some driving back into Fort Worth when I ran across this place online. I got an order of chicken gizzard, okra, and fries. Man was it good! And on a side note, the lady at the register was sweet as pie!

Generous portion sizes and tasty food. I saw other reviews highly recommended the chicken fried steak, and glad I got it because it did not disappoint. Some places only give you a little gravy, but not New York Hill Restaurant. Smothered with creamy, flavorful gravy. Worth stopping in for. Also got a slice of pie. It was good, but too sweet for my liking.

I drive past here frequently and always want to eat there. I finally did, and it was worth it! It is a relaxed atmosphere with delicious home-cooked meals. The restaurant also came with town history. The wait staff were timely, kind, and helpful. The rolls were incredibly satisfying, and the steak fingers and baked potato were tasty. I will be returning.

The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the portions were large. Had the bacon cheeseburger salad. Lots of salad dressing choices. The thousand island dressing was delicious. Pretty sure it was homemade.

This was my first visit, I've passed by many a time in my way to Mingus but never stopped so I decided to check it out. I had no idea what to expect really but OMG was it worth the risk!! Our server was sweet and attentive, The cooks in the back absolutely blessed me with THE most incredible 12oz Sirloin I've ever had, and the garlic mashed potatoes, green beans and lemon bread pudding were to die for. Don't even get me started on the rolls!!! Next time you drive by, STOP. You won't regret it!

We love to stop here as we travel between Ft. Worth and Abilene because it is cozy and has the best comfort food around! It is fresh and they still serve French Dressing!
The hummingbird porch is a true joy to watch as you dine
