It is very casual and you don't need to take the tour, BUT, it is a very educational tour done by volunteers, I liked it very much!!!

You also can just take a small hike there year around!!! There is a primitive outhouse if you need it. There are benches for you to rest throughout the trail ... or meditate, or watch and listen to the sound of nature.

Huge s/o to the people who help preserve this history and shame on those who carved into this artifact before it was enclosed! S/O to the natives who still come here with offerings. A short hike but if you’re into this type of history it’s so worth it!

Really nice hiking trail! There is a big tree down blocking the original path but there is a new path in place around the fallen tree. The petroglyphs were closed when we went in October I think it says online they are only open through September.

Well organized to maintain distance. It's a shame about the deterioration of the petroglyphs - they may be mostly gone in 20 years. Go now while they're still there! Also, I've lived in MI for 45 years, and learned history I'd never heard before.

Went at 1 pm on a Thursday. The DNR has 3 people with interpretation and history of the petroglyphs.
We used some bug spray and were not bothered but could see mosquitos. Spent about 45 minutes at the site.
It is a wonderful spot and so much history (learned about fires of the 1800s also).

It was very cool to learn a this history of the area. You sit through a brief talk of the land and state and then see the Petroglyphs. They aren't perfect as they are so old. But it was very cool to see them in person.

Mosquitos give this five stars! Nice park. This is an uneven and rocky at times trail so prepare accordingly and it'll be a nice experience. 🌅

The staff here are so informative! They said the pavilion built over the rock makes it so they sun doesn't reach it and has caused moss to grow wildly all over. Just a suggestion but maybe a clear plastic roof can be installed. And the structure rebuilt so bats cannot make homes in it. It seems like in the name of preservation more harm is being done than good, and it can still be reversed. Not that the DNR isn't taking care of the petroglyphs, just that there may be a better way.

Very cool place, great for kids. I am grateful for the staff that take the time to explain the history of the area and the petroglyphs. This is one of those things that won't be around forever so go see it while you can.

Who knew!!!!! Learned about some unknown, to us at least, Michigan history about the Native Americans living in the Thumb and left some history for us to enjoy. 300 to 1500 yrs ago. The host telling stories were very knowledgeable.

I showed up at 4:50 and Don stayed after to show me a few of the petroglyph's. He was very knowledgeable and kind.
Next time I'm in the area I'll show up earlier to hear the history.

Very nice and beautiful. Visiting after being gone for 30 years, I love how genuinely attempts are made to preserve this unbelievable sacred grounds. What a honor to walk almost the Council rocks of past inhabitants. My imagination goes wild. And my heart is filled with memories. Thank you for the experience. Had a great educational experience, was fun and a bit of a long walk around the beautifully manicured paths. Will return again someday.
