This is exactly the kind of random statue I enjoy finding. The legend is such fun legend to learn about and the statue is so much more than the story with a giant grasshopper on a pitch fork. I had to pull over and I learned something new. I encourage you to stop for this great find and then visit the museum hiding just behind it.

Best statue in the state. It was a bit too snowed in for my wife, however

Glad we can drink wine in peace because of this guy

Fun statue / roadside attraction to explore on our way through Menahga, MN. Heading northbound on Hwy 71, you might miss it as it is tucked in a corner. So be on the lookout for the giant man with a giant grasshopper on a stick to the right of the highway as the road curves to the left.

THE WILD GRAPES WERE THREATENED BY A PLAGUE OF GRASSHOPPERS UNTIL ST URHO BANISHED THE LOT OF THEM WITH A FEW SELECTED FINNISH WORDS. IN MEMORY OF THIS IMPRESSIVE DEMONSTRATION OF THE FINNISH LANGUAGE, FINNISH PEOPLE CELEBRATE ON MARCH 16 THE DAY BEFORE ST PATRICKS DAY IT TENDS TO SERVE AS A REMINDER THAT ST.
