Our tour of Houmas Plantation was exceptional. The grounds are breathtaking and are beautifully maintained. Our tour guide was one of the best we have ever experienced. He spoke clearly and was not hurried in his approach. He was able to answer all questions asked. We highly recommend this plantation.

After moving away from Ascension Parish nearly 25 years ago, I wanted to share memories from my childhood with my husband when we returned home this Christmas. Houmas House did not disappoint!! It was better than I remembered. It is obvious the current owner Kevin has invested time and resources into the house and grounds, not to mention the addition of the amazing museum and restaurants! We have toured homes around the world and to see this jewel a few miles from my childhood home was incredible. It was also heartwarming to hear that the beautiful murals in the main foyer are the work of Craig Black, the caretaker from the
'80s that is a very accomplished artist.
Ruby was our tour guide today, very informative and personable. She gave the perfect mix of past and present to the tour.
We look forward to stopping in on our next Visit home.

My visit to Houmas House and Gardens was a delightful escape into the charm of the Old South. The lush gardens surrounding the antebellum mansion were a sight to behold, offering a serene and picturesque backdrop. The guided tour through the mansion was informative and gave a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the era.

What sets this plantation apart is the attention to detail and the dedication to preserving its history. The cuisine at the on-site restaurant was exquisite, offering a taste of Southern culinary traditions. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or just a peaceful day out, Houmas House and Gardens is a lovely destination to explore and enjoy.

I had a fantastic tour yesterday. Our tour guide, John, was knowledgeable, funny, and thoroughly enjoyable. I loved the history of items with the house especially the connections between families. Absolutely a great time.

We love this place, we’ve stayed there a few times. Love the rooms, the grounds are beautiful and the food is great ( especially the breakfast). You must do the house tour, and visit the museum, all of the staff are super nice. Last year we went around Christmas time and it was decorated beautifully. We’re going back in December this year. I believe it’s going to be a tradition.

The grounds are spectacular with many areas to explore and the black swans were a sight to see. The tour of the house was informative and interesting. The trees were amazing, including a 600 year old oak tree. Definitely worth the visit.

Houmas House is truly a gem here in Louisiana. The gardens are well manicured and extensive, the restaurants are well-serviced and reasonably priced, and the Turtle Bar is my favorite little spot on the property. I come here often to reflect and relax.

Exquisite restored antebellum mansion and playfully designed grounds filled with eclectic art. Also, excellent food and drink, a museum, and comfy rooms in cabins arranged along a gorgeous oak alley. Highest recommendation.

This was our first plantation tour of our week-long trip. Overall, it was a great experience, and our guide, Ruby, was excellent. She was able to answer most of the questions posed to her and did answer all questions related to the estate. We were surprised to learn that the current owner actually lives there and more surprised that he allowed the tour through his private rooms. The gardens were absolutely gorgeous and had a wide variety of plants and wildlife. The admission price was a little steep, but learning the history around that particular piece of property was priceless.

Amazing tour by Suzzana Ann! Lovely insight into the 19th century in this beautiful home. If you want to get an experience that is much more enriching and less touristy than Oak Alley, this is the place to go.

This historical site is just magical! The gardens and mansion is over the top gorgeous! The guide was wonderful. I am really disappointed to have missed the Museum that was built. It sounds amazing. They allowed my little dog on the tour with me. I chose to carry her so she would not have a potty incident. But every little detail was beyond impressive. This is the best of all the plantations to explore!

Birthday trip with my husband and a friend. The meal was a late lunch--excellent! The food was absolutely perfect. Our waiter, Taylor(?) was also excellent! We toured the mansion and the grounds and loved every second of it. The Carriage House is now our go to for going out.

Absolutely gorgeous! The flowers are amazing and I saw some that I've never come across before. Everyone on the grounds and in the shop were just absolutely kind and informative. The different types of gardens were well put together. Definitely recommend to everyone.

This was an excellent plantation tour. Huge parking lot with ample room. We bought tickets online for a certain time for the tour.
The grounds were impeccable. Beautifully groomed and well cared for. Beautiful lake with swans, geese, and ducks.
We had an excellent tour guy. He knew his stuff. Great historical stories to go along with the facts of the home.
Each room was carefully decorated to the period and some with original furniture.
Very friendly people as well.
Tour took about 1:10. We walked the grounds a bit so the whole visit was about 1:40.
Oh forgot the nice little kitty to greet you when u get there.

What an awesome experience! Went with my family and we loved it. Lots to see. The house tour was easy and the guide was great. Learned a lot. The gardens you walk through on your own. Enjoyed that too. Went have a drink at the Turtle Bar. Felt nice to sit inside out of the heat. The giftshop has so much stuff there. We bought a couple of things there. This is my third plantation visit. The other two, Oak Alley and Nottoway. This tour and plantation ground is the best one out of the three. I'd recommend coming here.

A beautiful plantation with wonderful food and a very informative museum!
We didn’t do the tour but there is so much to see and do on your own, we didn’t feel we needed the tour! Museum was amazing, restaurant was fantastic (our server was very professional and accommodating)

We loved every moment and highly recommend seeing this historical place!!

Houmas House is one of my favorite locations to visit to enjoy beauty, elegance, sophistication, and southern charm, along with my favorite sounds: peace and quiet, bird chirps/calls, and the orchestra of cicadas.

One must experience all that the grounds offer: the beautiful landscape, unique dining options, a tour of the home, the museum, a view of the Mississippi River from the levee, and an overnight accommodation at the inn.

I live in Houston where I work as a nurse among the busy and loud background, no matter which side of the door you are standing. I escape the city and retreat to Houmas House because the experience brings peace and joy to my soul.

I’m looking forward to visiting in the spring ❤.
