Hood Memorial Hospital

Recently I became a patient at Hood Memorial. I was In a swing bed for inpatient rehab. As far as being in a hospital setting, I felt my stay there was a wonderful experience. The staff from every department brightened my day constantly throughout the day. I was made to feel that I was their only patient. The physical rehab and occupational therapy was outstanding. I anticipated my stay to be much longer. I went home much stronger than I thought I would be. I would also would like to acknowledge the kindness that they treated my family with and I would highly recommend anyone with the same needs to come here.

As a lifelong resident of Amite City, recently my husband had a stroke followed by two blood clots. The premedical on call literally saved his life. Ambulance equipped with the latest technology and the professional and experienced paramedics to operate it. They transported him to Hood’s Hospital where the medical staff was excellent and Dr Bastian was excellent. She turned an emergency room into an ICU. You can rest assured that I know what I am commenting on. Hood’s needs to make sure that she continues to be a part of Hood’s and the Amite Community. I thank her and the paramedics from Acadian Ambulance for literally saving his life. You don’t have to be large to be great just have great people on your team.

I watched Dr Bastian almost run an ICU from a minimally equipped ER room for my dad. I am not sure if she was prior military or just very good trauma training, but she was very good. I hope that she isn't just passing through and I hope the citizens do not run her off. She is world class.

Wow! Where do I begin? I was recovering from a serious infection after a triple bypass at North Oaks in Hammond. Near Death, Hood Memorial staff literally nursed me back to health. Professional, Courteous, and loving! I not only wouldn't hesitate to return but would highly recommend them to everyone I know! Love those guys and have been back to visit a couple of times.

My mother was there for a month. they were a very professional, caring and dedicated staff. she was in a debilitated state and when released has functioned very well and able to enjoy living as independent as she can. Thank you Hood memorial formal your help.

I recently had 2 ER visits within a few days. I can not say enough about the timely and quality care that I received!!! The doctors and staff were both caring and knowledgeable!! I would recommend Hood to anyone!!!

Visited the ED and was warmly greeted at the desk. They took my information and I was seen quickly. No complaints about the service. I was impressed and pleased with my rapid visit! Thanks, Hood, for taking good care of me.

My 2 year old son had a random allergic reaction that caused his lips/face to swell on July 3rd (pediatrician's office was closed). I was concerned about the possibility of his tongue/throat swelling so I brought him in. After signing in, we were immediately put in a room with nurses assessing him and taking vitals. This was his first ER visit, so of course he was scared. He screamed and cried the entire hour we were there, but the staff were so sweet to him. They talked soothing and even brought him a cup of ice water, a cool towel, and a stuffed animal to try to calm him. The ER doctor was thorough and understanding of my son crying. He was given medication and kept for a short observation, but I never felt rushed or like my son was causing chaos (he was crying pretty loud). The bedside manner of the ER crew was awesome, and the combination of medication did the trick!

Hood Memorial staff nurses and CNA’s were professional and caring and helped my grandmother to be able to go home on her own.

Bashed head open on trackhoe. Dr was exceptional warm and friendly. Old school medical care. No pushing the that God awful clot shot Covid vaccine.

Tabora is great! She is such a friendly professional person! She’s always such a great help!

All the staff were very understanding and helpful while my husband was there. They even showed me the same kindness.

I see Ms Tara at the Amite rural health clinic. She is awesome! The service is always so fast, but they also take the time to understand your problems. Great place to go!

Very good place it’s small but fast and they helped me a lot they explained everything and let me make my choice.. I will come here anytime but I will never willingly go north oaks it’s the worse!

The hospital is very dated and the bathrooms were not very clean but my husband and I had a great experience other than that. The staff was very friendly and took care of my husband in a very prompt manner. I would definitely recommend.
