This is a wonderful place to have a quick bite to eat! The food was extremely good!!! The hamburger was actually a hand patted patty! This is something that is very unique in this day and age. My grandmother loved her hamburger. I had the large fried catfish! The onion rings, french fries, and catfish were really good! The hushpuppies were premade I believe but really good! Thanks for a wonderful meal!

Had a great dining experience recently at this awesome local business. This place has great food and stellar service. Plenty of seating is available and the restaurant's layout is very spacious. The tables have plenty of room between them, so you don't feel stacked on top of other tables. It's conveniently located in downtown Tryon and there is ample public/free parking available. I would highly recommend this local business!

Thanks so much to everyone who showed up for work today. The food was great and the prices are even greater and the key lime pie was even greater we would definitely be back

I had the large catfish plate with black-eyed peas & a sweet potato.
They throw your sweet tea in for free if ya pay in cash.
We will be back.

Everyone was so nice! The macaroni was yummy, the 🐟 fish& grilled 🧀 cheese with bacon was tasty. The fries had no salt on them & we really liked how we could pepper or salt our 🍟 fries ourselves:). I would like to visit again:) .

Update: 03/12/2024 NO CHICKEN LIVERS ANYMORE.... THEY REMOVED CHICKEN LIVERS FROM THEIR MENU... Evidently they weren't selling enough to keep them on their menu. 🙁
They still have good "home~cooked" foods, but no chicken livers....

Absolutely the best cat fish that I have ever eaten, because I'm not a cat fish person. Everything was delicious and service was great and so friendly .it's worth driving out of your way.

Our first time there. Friendly staff, the food came out quickly and was very tasty. A great place for a meal.

Very good southern food. This old time restaurant served a very yasty fried flounder. The perch was delicious too. Who knew chicken livers could be this tasty! The onion rings were delicious. Service was good. They serve drinks in styrofoam cups which is weird but we can deal with that. Also, your straw is in the napkin. The prices are fair. A good place to enjoy a meal. It would be great if they served breakfast.

Excellent country style food. Never once had an issue with food quality. The only thing I have tried that I dislike here is the macaroni & cheese. That needs major improvement. The staff is friendly!

Absolutely love Calvert's! The owner is always in the dining room speaking to the customers. The food is amazing, too!

This is a great place to get a taste of true souther cookin'. We stopped in for lunch and had a salad with grilled chicken, grilled chicken sandwich, green beans and fries. Service was fast and with southern charm. If you are in the Columbus/Tryon area it is worth the stop.

Simple atmosphere BUT the menu selection is terrific and the portions plentiful. Servers friendly and efficient. Good value in local comfort food!

A great stop for us...Food was excellent and service was great...from the mix of customers there while we were there, it appeared this was a favorite of the locals.

SO good!! I had the catfish, it's was so delicious and fresh. My gf had the the turkey club with mac n cheese and fries. Everything was so good! Highly recommended! You won't be disappointed.

Very much like the family restaurants near our homes...good food, good atmosphere, and family run..

The Owner greeted us at the door and was very friendly and welcoming. I was visiting from central Florida and after hiking decided to have lunch. I had the turkey club with the baked potato salad and squash casserole. The food was fresh and the service was good. I will definitely recommend to friends and family.

We stopped for lunch on our way to Kentucky to see family. The food was delicious! My husband had the fried chicken livers, mashed potatoes and baked apples. I had the turkey club with macaroni & cheese and stewed tomatoes & okra. The chicken livers were crispy & flavorful and my turkey club came grilled with all the fixings. Sides were hot and fresh and the service was welcoming and friendly. We definitely recommend Calvert's for a fantastic lunch!
