So inspiring what one person can do. Beautifully sculpted landscape on private property made public through the owner's generosity. Neighbors have also sculpted their gardens. Not far off the highway and well worth the visit. Town is being revitalized with shops and cafes being added.

My 2 sisters and I visited while in South Carolina for a funeral. It was simply life changing for me to talk, walk, video and build with Mr and Mrs Fryar. He was concerned that his gifts wouldn't last. He knew that he was getting older and wanted to make sure his life lessons would be built upon. I am so glad to see that this is now a non-profit and people will preserve what Pearl Fryar has started. I hope that you create the scholarship for "C" students that he is passionate about. I hope that South Carolina makes this a national monument with a historical marker, while he is still alive to honor him. He is the reason so many unknown and countless people visit from around the world to see his masterfully skilled labor of horticultural love. I pray that the Fryar family are in good health and are loved by the community he loved and helped to bring together. His story truly exemplifies how you can turn what was meant to hurt, kill, divide and destroy into something extraordinary. Peace and Blessings . We love you Pearl and Mrs Fryar ❤ ♥ 🙏🏾

This garden is a hidden gem. As I got closer, there is a sign on the right side of the road notifying me to turn at the next left. As I enter the street, I was greeted with some topiary on both side of the street. I entered a neighborhood where the topiary garden is located. Note, parking lot is a large grassy area facing the house/topicary garden in the left. To start the self guided tour, cross the street and go to the right side of the house when facing the house, and there is a station where you can get info and brochure on the garden. There is a donation box, and please make a donation. Mr Pearl is in his 80s and not able to maintain the grounds, and Mike is helping with maintenance including trimming the trees and bushes. Some topiary appeared to easily figure out. I think I saw a Cobra, swans, but many, if not all, are abstract art. Use your imagination. There are also creative art displays. For example, there were bells with chain decorating a dead tree, a fountain built with an old stove, etc... My appreciation for this park went hundred times after learning the story behind this park. We were blessed with running into Mike Gibby-Scissorhands Gibson, who shated the story with us. He was so informative and was so nice to stop what he was doing to talk to us and answered all our question. He said that Mr Pearl often sit outside to meet some visitors. The restrooms are on the right side of the house in the back.

What a beautiful garden maintained very well. The sculptures are nice too. I hope people donate and help this place. It takes about 30 minutes to view the entire garden.

Pearl is a wonderful and talented topiary artist. His yard is amazing. The film "A Man Mamed Pearl" (2006) is an extremely wonderful film to watch. IMDB rates it 7.9 out of 10. My mother and I came upon it playing on an art channel. We were both wowed. I have visited his home in Bishopville, SC and got a guided tour by Mr. Fryar. We felt so lucky! He is amazing. Go see him soon!

Definitely worth stopping in if you are in the area or passing through. If you have the time,be sure to check out the Button Museum as well. (about 8miles away) The Bush and yard art is excellent and keep an eye out for the cute cats. There is also a bathroom in the back right.

Sooooo beautiful. We were amazed by all the bushes and sculptures. But most importantly: we had a chance to meet the man himself. He's become such a sweet old man. Talking to him was very interesting and we learned a lot about him and his life. The garden is a very quiet and peaceful place, perfect to just relax and take your mind off your problems. Overall, the garden itself is worth the visit, and if you get to meet Pearl Fryar, you've definitely pulled a jackpot. 11/10, would totally recommend.

Oh my goodness this was absolutely beautiful. I read about his story a few years ago and always wanted to visit. It did not disappoint. In SC for the Thanksgiving holiday my husband and l we both enjoyed our visit.

Today is the second time we've visited this garden, the first time was about 12 years ago, its been too long. It's a couple of acres full of beautifully manicured bushes and very cool junk art, all started by Mr Pearl Fryar, a man gifted with a very green thumb (yes, I am envious). The garden surrounds his home and is currently taken care off by a grant from the university of SC. There is a strong sense of peace as you step on the garden. It's a bit out of the way but well worth a visit.

If ever in the area of Bishopville, SC. make sure you find 145 Broad Acres Rd. There you will see a terrific display of a man's love and talent for topiary. Pearl Fryar has turned his yard and that of some of his neighbors into a wonderful Topiary Garden. You have to see it, beautiful. Just another reason to go out a road trip it, some of the things you'll see will stay with you forever....

It's amazing what one person with a passion can do. We were so impressed by the imagination and detail in the topiary and the water sculptures. Unfortunately it was drizzling that day do they weren't on, but they must be even more amazing. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restroom for visitors and a large parking area.

We came to visit after watching the documentary and had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mr. Fryar. He is an incredibly kind individual and has a beautiful garden. His work is truly unique.

One of the unique treasures of South Carolina, Mr. Fryar's garden is full of not just topiary but also examples of his metal sculptures. So glad that Mike Gibson is carrying on with keeping things up now that Mr. Fryar is older. Love this place!

I really do not understand what took me so long to view this beautiful work...especially when you live & work in South Carolina. How do you turn your front, side, and back yards into an outdoor garden???? This is nothing but pure talent!! If I could live in Mr. Fryar’s brain for one day...It would be a wonderful day!

Beautifully designed and lovingly maintained, and just the amount of surreal I like. One of those places which catches you by surprise with how well it naturally fits into the landscape even as it defies nature.

An interesting topiary to walk through and enjoy. Pearl Fryar encourages students to express themselves in their garden artwork which is scattered throughout the acre of topiary pines and hollies. I found it to be very relaxing and Mr. Fryar's story is inspiring.

On a small, discrete road, this place makes a statement. A unique creativity clearly drives the garden’s aesthetic. Each massive plant stands on its own as an artistic feat that changes with each day.

Unique, one mans passion to brighten people’s day by trimming hedges and trees into figures is pretty amazing! Some of these, you must be there to get the 3D look. Like the one cut into the grass. LOVE PEACE JOY.
