Definitely a stopping spot coming home from the beach! This no-frills, grab and go community favorite has daily items that fill your tank and your soul. For those of us that seek out great local bbq, this is a gem. The friendly owners talk us through the daily items and advised us on the way to order. Plan to eat in the car or bring a blanket for under the shade trees, seating is limited. Bring your cash or venmo, no credit cards used here. Go check them out!

Me and my stepdad stopped there for a bite on our road trip and the food was absolutely phenomenal, my stepdad bought the pulled pork sandwiches and 2 ribs while I got rib tips and rice, it was delicious and everything tasted perfect the ribs were juicy and tender while the pork had an amazing flavor and the beans were amazing, they were soft while seasoned to perfection. If I lived here this would be the place to eat at every night. Also the ladies we spoke to were absolute dolls and were very nice.

The pulled pork sandwiches and baked beens were delicious, but the patrons were even more amazing. Thank you and God bless you!

After reading the reviews my family and I decided to check the Smoke Pit out and they did not disappoint. The owner and staff were warm, welcoming and the bbq was some of the best I've ever had. The mac n cheese was top notch as well. If you're in the area do NOT second guess stopping here for a wonderful and memorable meal.

After 2 days of delays, snowstorms, ice storms and generally typical holiday travel from BC Canada, via Portland and Atlanta, we were finally on our way to our final destination and stumbled upon this amazing bbq!! Whoa, the ribs were spectacular, the sauce was a perfect balance of tangy and sweet, the Mac and cheese…let’s say I wish I had ordered everything they had left. The collards were unreal, perfect flavour, and the pork sandwich was delicious. But most of all, the people are amazing. So friendly, generous and kind. This would be a regular for me if I lived remotely close by. Trust me, you’ll want more than your stomach has room for.

I ate the Pulled Pork dinner. Their dinners come with one meat, hash and rice, and one additional side. I got the baked beans. I enjoyed this very much. Their barbecue sauce is vinegar and ketchup based with slight pepper spice. Their food was delicious.

I went to Smokepit BBQ on yesterday. I drove from Florence, South Carolina because I heard about this place. Very clean Restaurant, Great Professional Staff and to top it off, THE FOOD WAS OFF THE CHAIN..If you want to taste the secret ingredient in the Bar- Be- Cue. Go to the Smokepit. Great choice of items on the Menu. Very satisfied Customer

Wonderful bbq, small local place with great people and BBQ was delicious!

Good spot for take-out BBQ. Unlike a lot of places in SC, Smoke Pit has smoked turkey and chicken, in addition to pork. Hash and rice included on platters with 1 side. The sauce is a light tomato. We had pulled pork, ribs, and turkey. All were really good. The pits around back run on propane. Everyone was really friendly. Easy access just off the interstate.

Best BBQ and Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had! Highly recommend Smoke Pit BBQ. Its with a detour! The Ribs, chicken, pulled pork and hash were unreal! Cant wait to go back. Fantastic food and service

Stopped here for some pork sandwiches before our long drive back to DE. It was the best pork I’ve ever had!!! Tons of flavor and the side of Mac and cheese was to die for. Everyone was so sweet and you could tell they put so much love into their food.

Our family ordered a BBQ Turkey for Christmas dinner. It was ready when promised and the staff even delivered it to my vehicle during what was a very busy day for their restaurant. The turkey was a hit. Very flavorful and presented very well.

We enjoyed it so much, that we ordered a full rack of ribs for New Year’s Day dinner. It was a hit, also. This group knows what they are doing in the kitchen! We will be more than happy to make the hour-long ride for Smoke Pit BBQ!

Stopped in on way home from vacation. We got pork sandwich n Mac-n-cheese. It was delicious! Folks are super friendly too👍

The smoked turkey is amazing, just saying.
If you're craving real southern BBQ and you're around Bishopville SC make the stop. You will not be disappointed.
Get there early because the food is smoked fresh in the morning and once it's sold out for the day it's gone.

Classic southern BBQ, delicious and reasonable prices. Friendly staff too. It is a small “hole in the wall” sort of place ie no frills so you know all the revenue is going to food and staff.

I had the most amazing experience. The staff and cooks provide a down to earth and hometown vibe. The turkey bbq is my absolute fave!! The pork is great as well! The sides could be starters also.Their prices are really reasonable. Give the Smoke Pit a try! You will not be disappointed.

Best BBQ I’ve ever had! And the staff was very friendly and happy to have us!! I wish I lived closer to the area because if I did I would be over there all the time!

I worked up a good appetite hiking the trails at nearby Lee State Park and stopped by Smoke Pit and got a pulled pork dinner that I enjoyed under a nearby shade tree. Excellent pork, hash and rice, and baked beans! And the folks working there were very friendly. I'll certainly have to eat there again the next time I'm in Bishopville!

I love the barbecue pull pork,and skin heavenly good!!! If you having been experienced any of the amazing food. Like Bbq Ribs and hash and rice. They also have delicious slices of different cakes. All I can say is YUM!

Second visit to Smoke Pit on 4/3, as we were passing through town. Half slab of ribs, hash and rice, and a pork sandwich. Half slab was huge, container could barely close. The sandwich was full of meat. Hash and rice was on point. ​Everything was delicious!!

Prices are reasonable, (sandwiches are 6.00, they had a special for 5.00) portions are large and everyone is friendly.

We will certanly stop by the next time we are in town.
