Don't miss this place!! Pn fried cornbread to boot for bread appetizer!!

Traveling from Minnesota on a trip to the bird dog museum and to visit friend n Tennessee. We stopped for lunch at Top of the River. The atmosphere was great, decor even better. The wait staff was excellent, even though they had no recommendations for what to get. We went with the largest sea food platter in the world. We started off with cornbread, onions, and coleslaw. When the platter came it was an excellent choice. The catfish was ok but the balance of the shrimp and crab were excellent. The hush puppies were the best we have had. This is a must stop location in Tennessee.

Hidden gem for sure. Top O' The River is a must while visiting south central Tennessee. The food was plentiful and tasty. Seriously think about splitting a meal between the two of you. Was surprised when my seafood platter came out and the plate was actually a "platter". More than enough food for two to three individuals. Service was quick and friendly. Food was simply amazing.

If you want some excellent river or seafood there is no other option to consider.

Great food and excellent service. The food was hot and fresh. They provide cornbread in a black skillet when you arruve and slaw in a tin cup. The cornbread was really good. A classic southern staple done right! The fish was good and served piping hot. Our waitress was by every few minutes to see if we needed anything and made sure to keep our drinks full as well.

We always enjoy Top O' The River!! Best catfish in the area. Kids got fried chicken, huge pieces, and delicious!! Soon got Fried Shrimp - very tasty! Love the cornbread and slaw, just all around great food!!

Loved this place....very friendly and accommodating. Large portions. I only wished for white beans to go with the catfish. Excellent coleslaw! BIG onion rings!

Delicious food, incredible staff, and a rustic ambiance combined for a wonderful dining experience. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Saturday to a full parking lot, got a table immediately and had food coming out within 10 minutes. Enormous onion rings and a heaping platter of fried pickle slices started our meal along with the complementary cornbread (some of the best I've ever had), house made coleslaw and pickled onions. Then came the main course... 2 of the customized combination seafood platters. Both platters included the fried catfish fillets (farm raised with a nice, mild flavor), Creole boiled shrimp, Creole crab meat (OMG!) and a baked potato. I had the broiled crawfish tails and my date had the shrimp scampi, both incredible! After nearly licking our plates clean our server Aaron recommended the macadamia cheesecake for dessert and it was spot on! Aaron was friendly, charming, and attentive without being pushy or hovering. All-in-all one of the best meals I have had in South West TN. Highly recommend hitting this place up if you are in the mood for southern style seafood.

Our third visit to this Wonderful restaurant in the middle of no where. Just a 20 minute drive from Savannah, Tn. But, on our first visit we thought is it worth driving this far for catfish! YES, this is one of our favorite catfish & seafood restaurants in this area. Love the fresh hot cornbread & coleslaw. And the menu has something for everyone. Sometimes you will have to wait for a table, but it is worth the wait. Shiloh National Military Park is about 15 from Michie, Tn. You will pass 4 other catfish restaurants along the way. So far Top O the River is our favorite. Give it a try!

Good was great, fun dining experience with a large party.

One of our favorites! It's a little pricy, so we don't go as often as we'd like to, but its a nice treat! Shrimp kabobs and hushpuppies are to die for!

Absolutely wonderful, food was excellent, service was absolutely amazing, and the food was more than filling for the price. Never been somewhere where I wanted to come back right after leaving.

We dined here a week ago. The staff were fantastic especially Crystal, the manager. It was by far the best service and hospitality we received during our trip to Tennessee from the UK; genuine Southern hospitality. She got us to try their special "Pot of Greens" and sample their catfish. Really nice atmosphere, large portions and good value. Best restaurant in that area. We had planned to go back the next night but unfortunately other things got in the way.

I usually eat here through the week during the Dinner hour..Today I ate here around 2:00 & the Food was much better...Fish fried to perfection!

I had a great perfectly cooked medium steak and baked potato and salad. I enjoyed everything about the food. The server was super sweet. The only thing I noticed was there was A LOT of servers and they looked like college aged. Which is great. It is a very large restaurant and was told that they get very busy on the weekends.

Some of the best fried catfish I have ever put in my mouth! Loved the complimentary slaw, corn bread, & onion also liked the cheese stick appetizer we got. The restaurant itself is very crowded but that's because the food is Sooooo good! The bathroom was clean but didn't really care for the swinging bar room doors for the toilet stalls very very tight quarters. Definitely going back if I get a chance LORD Willing 😃.

The food was great tasting and plentiful. The turnip greens are wonderful. The staff was attentive, courteous, and prompt. Only complaint the women's bathroom stalks are a little tight feeling.
