Zion Hill African-American Cemetery

This cemetery has been shamefully neglected. A friend and I went to visit local cemeteries over Memorial Day weekend and we were appalled at the state of this cemetery. Most of the graves were marked with metal temporary place holders that had deteriorated over time. A tree had fallen over part of the fence onto a space (we couldn't tell if it was occupied). No one had placed flags to honor the fallen veterans laid to rest here. If this was an abandoned cemetery way back in the deep woods it would be easier to understand why it has been neglected, but this cemetery is directly on the highway and has been used as recently as 2015! I would love to see the local community pull together to restore this resting place and research the names of people here so the temporary markers can be replaced.
