Buttermilk Hill Restaurant and Bar

We went to this hidden gem for our 25th wedding anniversary and was so pleased with our experience. From the atmosphere, to the awesome food, we were impressed. We noticed that there was no salt and pepper shakers on the table. Guess what? You don't need it, the food was seasonsoned to perfection. My husband and I are foodies and we wanted to try everything, so we bought 2 entrees a piece and dessert. The owner came out and we had to tell her how pleased we were, she was delightful. We are going back for sure!

Such a wonderful dining experience, all the way from amazing food a historical house to wonderful staff. Me and my friends had a spectacular dinner.

The atmosphere was awesome but the star is the food! We had an opportunity to meet the chef Kara and she was delightful. Now I know why this is on the list of MUST VISIT restaurants in Alabama

This is one of the best down home southern style place ever across the whole South. Great hospitality food and atmosphere. Look forward to returning soon. God bless! The homemade bread pudding takes a while to prep and serve but is Well worth the wait...to die for!

Food is fabulous. Be prepared to spend a little time here bc food is prepared fresh upon ordering. It is well worth it!

Some of the best food I have ever ate! Beautiful little town it’s located in. It’s known for the fine white marble. The restaurant has great lunch specials but you need a reservation for dinner. The owner is the chef and only local fresh meat & vegetables are serve here. They also have a bar. Voted one of the best restaurants in Alabama.

Amazing! Buttermilk Hill Restaurant was wonderful! The food was so delicious and for what you get I thought the prices were very reasonable! I would highly recommend the New York strip! The restaurant itself was beautiful and restored! The staff was very friendly as well and really helped us understand the menu! Very nice little restaurant for a sweet date night!

So glad we found Buttermilk Hill Restaurant on our trip to the area. Food, atmosphere and service were top notch. What a gem in this small town. I had a delicious crab salad and my husband loved his pork tenderloin. Understand the bread pudding is fabulous and you have to order it when you arrive as each serving is prepared individually. We passed on it as our next stop was the Blue Bell Country Store which offers a $1 a bowl of ice cream with a wide variety of choices. You get to view the ice cream process.

We have had dinner twice now at Buttermilk Hill. Each time has been an excellent experience with great service and food that has been worth the price. Tried the filet, which is one of the best we have had anywhere in SE. The crab cake is really good and is solid crab and my wife loves the stuffed chicken dish. We always order the bread pudding for desert and split one, which is enough for two and has a fantastic taste. Do not mind paying for a good meal! This is not expensive compared to same type of restaurant in Atlanta, Nashville or any large city. We love the atmosphere, it is quiet, great for "date night" and for conversation with other dinner guest. Love it!!

Fine dining in elegant surroundings at a very modest price. I was pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful and delightful restaurant. Tasteful, elegant setting and delicious quisine artfully presented. Second to none, you will not find better food or atmosphere in Paris, Atlanta, Sea Island, or anywhere! (You will, however, pay twice to three times as much for a comparable dining experience in those locations)!

A very charming southern restaurant that makes you feel like you're in the true south! Kara is a true Scarlett O'hara!

Such a cute restaurant. I love the building (built in 1904), and the pork tenderloins were A+ material. So so good. The chef/owner personally came to check on us and she is very sweet. Thank you!!

Buttermilk Hill is a wonderful place to eat. Superb food and atmosphere. Lamb chops were perfectly prepared, as were the salad, mashed potatoes, leeks and asparagus. The butterscotch bread pudding was the best I have ever eaten. I'll be back!

Lovely house with Southern Charm. We brought a group of "foodies" and all were very pleased. The peach bread pudding was an amazing finish. A definite gem, well worth the drive from Auburn.

I had the 12oz NY Strip and it was the best steak I have ever eaten. We were waiting on like royalty and the chef was very friendly. I am no professional food critic but I have eaten and some nice restaurants. Buttermilk Hill is up there with the best of them.

Flavors were fantastic. Had lunch here, pork medallion. Food to die for. Unfortunately they did not have bread pudding for lunch today, I've heard it to die for. Unique setting, very relaxing
Price reasonable for what you get, would cost twice as much elsewhere. Will be back.

Enjoyed the entire dinner with family. We all tried different items. I enjoyed the Lamb my wife loved her steak. The food is prepared to perfection. What a gem of a restaurant in this small town!
