Tailwinds Steakhouse

Finally tried Tailwinds in Findlay, IL. Just a short drive into town from Lake Shelbyville. Been open since 1987. One of the newer owners was there as the chef last night. Tim was more than happy to show off his cool space. It’s spotless. Used to be a bank 🏦 The old vault is now the refrigerated beer cooler. Gabby was our bartender & server. Her mother & she own 12-Layers bakery across the street. Try the homemade pie, trust me! Vintage wooden props & photos of planes adorn the space as decoration. Friendly locals strike up conversation with other tables between cocktails & glasses of wine. What a perfect date night spot for those looking to mingle with new friends. Thanks for having us! We will definitely be back.

Amaazing food! The whole experience from start to finish was great. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. We enjoyed the walleye. I noticed chicken was a popular choice for many people in the restaurant so I’m thinking about trying it next time.

Just left Tailwinds. Chuck ordered walleye sandwich. It was a full size filet, lightly breaded. Delicious! I debated the frog legs, which I love. Chef Tim offered to cook me a sample. So Delicious! I ordered the frog leg meal. So lightly breaded, low salt. Absolutely delicious! Tailwinds has a wonderful chef, now following his dream after many years in public service, EMT, etc. Thanks, Tim, and waitresses for such a great meal in our small town of Findlay!

Great Food, great owners & staff, clean, comfortable, great times.

This is one of Findlay’s signature businesses. Tailwinds Steakhouse offers a great atmosphere, an excellent menu and awesome service. If you’re boating, camping, hiking or just passing through stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful experience! We were going boating with some friends and stopped to get a bite to eat beforehand. The service was fantastic as soon as we stepped in the door. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. My fiance ordered the special which was a Crispito, I believe, and he loved it! I had the french onion soup and a glass of their local wine and will probably order the same next time! Overall, we will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Service and food was amazing. This was our first trip here and we definitely will be coming back on our next fishing trip. Our server Gabby was perfect on everything.

Absolutely wonderful place! It was super busy but we got lucky and got right in so definitely would recommend a reservation. The place is very clean, everything was highly sanitized between people. The menu options are good and the actual food tasted great, it was piping hot and all correct. Now the wait staff, they where absolutely amazing not just towards customers but also each other. Throughout our meal I got to witness them help each other with tables and keep things coming out, drinks filled, and making sure to check on the customers multiple times. They absolutely made the dinner experience even better. We will definitely be back soon!

The service staff were great, our server was wonderful! The mushrooms were best I ever had. Do yourself a favor and go!

First time here. Amazing! The appetizers were all delicious. The staff were all so nice and attentive. I had to look at my bill twice. I thought they left something off, because it was so low. We live in Springfield and honestly, I think I would make the drive just to eat here. I can't wait to come back and try something else off the menu.

Perfectly cooked steak, great sides. The staff was very attentive and polite. We didn't have an reservation, but they were able to seat us. The prices were moderate for location. Definitely going back. Great restaurant👍👍

Amazing! I ordered the pork wings which were phenomenal, the fried pickle spears were the best I'd ever had! Place was packed so make reservations ahead of time on weekends. Highly recommend, and will definetly be back again.

This is my second great review of Tailwinds. My husband asked me where I wanted to go to eat for my birthday. I told him Tailwinds because I didn't want a long drive. I got the cod, my kids both got the clams, and my husband got the pork tenderloin bites. We got some steak bites for an appetizer. The steak bites melted in your mouth and had the most delicious gravy for dipping. I could've eaten those all night. We all had a delicious meal and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner out. We had excellent service as usual too. Don't drive far...just stop by Tailwinds for a great evening.

My wife and I got take out from here while staying at Eagle Creek campground. The food is very good and the employees are friendly. The steak flight bites are tender, country fried chicken was lightly breaded and fried, and the cajun shrimp pasta was creamy.

Food and service is the best around, everyone is so polite! By far my favorite place to eat!

The food is awesome and the staff was amazing! They had worked long hours and were still attentive to taking our orders and getting our food to us! There was 6 of us. I would highly recommend Tailwinds!

We had a really good waitress. The food was good. All you can eat shrimp was good and we didn't have to even ask for more; the waitress was on top of it coming back and asking if we wanted more and bringing it out fast. Awesome!!
