We enjoyed the natural beauty of the trails and the shoreline of Whiskey Harbor and the woods we hiked through.

There is a lot to see and enjoy here, along several miles of wilderness trails that are uninproved and left natural. There is great views of Lake Huron and a nice view of Whiskey Harbor after hiking through the woods.
There are no amenities or facilities so you better go before the hike 😁

We saw a Bald Eagle, lots of Canada Goose, some swans and Hawks all around.

The trails were wet from snowmelt and spring runoff, so better bring waterproof shoes too.

Nice place for a walk in the woods. Bring your boots; the trail can be wet in places.

Nice little walk, not stroller friendly though. Beautiful view of the water at the end.

Let's go back. Make sure you leave nothing but footprints and leave those on the trails.

Very rustic, bring your boots & a camera because I saw a bald eagle within 5 minutes. Blue markers on the trees help keep you on the trails. Some parts of the trails may be challenging for some visitors. Perfect for explorers like myself. "Leave nothing but footprints, take only what you came with."

Remote natural area . Trail is well marked, but don't wander off into the brush. Good place for birders.

Not well traveled wilderness. Paths are rough did see a 4 point in my mid-day travels.

This area was hit hard by ashbore beetle and phragmittes. Will be interesting to see how it changes through the years. Very remote area. Trails are overgrown and grooming will be an impossible task for the next decade. As trees are standing dead. Lake Huron winds bang hardened ash branches together litteting the forest with kindling. The forest needs an arborist.

Very rustic. Do not come expecting sugar sand beaches with scenic water vistas at the end of your hike as I did. The well marked blue blazed half mile trail which begins just to the left of the site sign ends at the beach; the shoreline, sadly, is overrun with tall invasive phragmites, obscuring much of the view. The site could be valuable for longitudinal environmental studies.
I visited in early June 2018. Due to the high water levels of the great lakes, the shorter trail leading to the shore was impassable, with standing pools of water and lots of muck.
I did not find the peach colored cobbles listed as a attraction in the sanctuary pdf.
Note: no hunting or fishing

OK, barely walkable trails, just a plot of land by the lake at the end of the road
