Great food and cold beer

"The Chance" is like stepping back in time, the food is excellent and different with a few home style favorites but the people make the difference. The staff were friendly, quick and are always smiling. There is always a crowd around the bar that are quick to engage you in a conversation and make you feel like a part of their community.

Has been our go to place for almost 100 yrs. Back in the WW 2 days, it was the first stop for soldiers heading to New Orleans and it might be the last stop for some of them.
The F & L Chance., as it was called, has all the good family food, like their HB’s, fried chicken, the meatball & Spaghetti, the big steaks &

all the local seafood caught here in South La.
At one time for years the “Porters” or waiters, were also active in waiting on the young but of drinking age. In the 50’s @ 60’s & 70’s at the Chance , they had the famous banana trees out back where the kids would park and make out while the not so “active” young couples would hang out back the Chance. But times and the banana trees would move on to now, but the current owners still serve the good and famous foods that they are now serving.

Always the best place to go. Get the lunch plate special for sure for a great meal at a great price.

The First & Last Chance, better known as “The Chance” is a small town place where everyone goes to. After any Football, Baseball,Basketball game, this is where the parents, family, friends and supporters goes to enjoy the famous Hamburgers they serve, the Fried Chicken, their Hot Garlic Topping, goes great with any dish. The large Fried Shrimp plate or the Fried Fish Poboy . Then the adults line up 4 deep at the Bar to celebrate the wins and the sting of defeat with a cold one in one hand . Only in a small town.

Food was home cooked and delicious! Always worth stopping at a hole in the wall 👌 our waitress was knowledgeable, answered questions I didn't know I had and made our night! We are from plaquemine and will certainly be back!

In 5 minutes I felt like I was a longtime friend, plus the homemade chicken and sausage gumbo was the best I have ever had.
