We camped for 3 days and it wasn't long enough. What an amazing gorgeous place. Not enough time to explore. We ended up randomly at some fish camp that was super cool. Everyone around is nice. Plan on garbage reception on your phone. Pretty much had zero phone usage during the day. The campsites are big and open but also full of trees and brush so you are secluded from other sites. The drive to the campsite itself is 3 miles from road to winding slow drive through the forest. Takes about 20 minutes adding to the perception of being deep away from people. We did not stay in a hotel. Just set up a camper

Beautiful remote state park and campgrounds! Small trails, large trails, boat ramps, private camp sites, playgrounds, cows. Deer, look out tower, this place offers the best of central Florida!! Staff is very nice, bathrooms are clean, we just had a great weekend! I highly recommend staying a few days here and checking out all it has to offer!

I rented a Pioneer Tent for a weekend and really enjoyed it. We were able to use two twin air mattresses inside for our group of four + a dog. The bathroom was a few steps away, and the parking spots were a short walk. The cart to take stuff back and forth was high quality.

Beautiful park with lots of trails and picnic areas. The general store (10-4pm) had all the things we ran out of it was craving (firewood, ice cream, and live bait)

This is a fantastic location to rent e-bikes. There are so many trails to explore. If you're camping it's a great way to get around the park. The rangers here are super helpful!

I have lived in lake wales for over 20 years and brought my sister here when she visited. We rented kayaks $20 for about 2 hours. What a thrill! This was better than an amusement park. We saw an 8ft gator cross our path. Many birds and a fawn. I enjoyed the observation tower and the trails are white silica sand and in those parts can be walked barefoot.
If you are adventurous this park can offer you a great time and you can camp there too. Camp store attendant Carl was very friendly. Only $5 and plenty of parking and not a lot of people even in February

It's difficult sometimes to get a site reserved but this is one of our favorite parks. Very well maintained and quiet. Boat ramp and excellent fishing at the park. Camp mack is just up the road for air boating, a small bar and live music outside.

Stopped at ranger station for information and they answered every question and made good suggestions. Campgrounds are well kept and spread out or close together whichever way you prefer. Not a large campground however they have many activities if yo so desire. We will be camping there in the future.

This park is one of my best. We camp here once a year. Clean campsites and bathrooms. We love biking and this park is great for it! There’s rentals for kayaking and a small store for quick things needed. Hiking trails are accessible and easy. Just a great park all around!

Glamping was fun and very convenient! Things could use a little updating and a good cleaning. Smell was a little put off inside tent. Just getting old. But still so much fun. Your camping! Lots of critters everywhere! Awesome!

This is a beautiful state park! We did not stay at the camp ground, we just came for the afternoon. The hiking trails were amazing, we did all but the longest hiking trail. We saw a lot of deer, but not much else. They have a cool treasure hunt game you can play when you come. I won't tell you about it, because you should come see for yourself! This park is a must see! $5 entry fee.

My brother, 9yo nephew and I just stayed here for 3 nights over the weekend. We have not been camping since we were kids and my nephew had really been wanting to go. We live in Kissimmee and wanted to select a park as close to home as possible due to it being that first time camping, just in case. It was the perfect fit!

We arrived around 4:30ish Friday evening. I didn't get the gentleman's name at the ranger station but he was really nice and very informative of some of the weekend activities like the cow camp, went over the night code to get back in, etc. We arrived at the site easily with the directions ranger gave and started to unpack, etc. Now since we hadn't been camping in so long I ended not being prepared for a few things. First, the electric hookup was a lot further from the area we wanted to put the tent. We put it a lot closer to it but it limited parking space. So be prepared with really long extension cords if you are doing your stay that way. I also REALLY wish I had read this in a review previously. We stayed in LOOP 1, site 1. The site is large enough to fit everything (very large tent, canopy, vehicles) but they're made up of broken/grounded up shells and rocks. Probably great to prevent flooding/mud but be warned there are still large pieces of rocks and shells. We brought along flipflops as shower shoes and to wear around the site so we weren't constantly needing to remove sneakers just to go inside the tent. The large rocks and pieces of shells made walking around pretty difficult. Some of the shells were actually imbedded into my flipflops (see pic). Hard to pull out the small pieces but if you don't they start jabbing you when you step on it the wrong way. By the end of the weekend my feet were so over it. It didn't look like all sites were that way but I definitely recommend a hard sole sandals here either way just in case. Also, the picnic table (not sure if ALL sites are like this) is VERY heavy. My brother could lift his side but I definitely could not, so it was stuck where it was when we arrived which also limited our options of site layout quite a bit.

We walked the shorter trails, thought it best to keep to the short ones for my nephew who is the stereotypically modern kid that does not get enough exercise. He hated the walk at first (was just being lazy) but I think in the end he finally started to understand and appreciate the beauty that was around him...well, at least a little! He ended up loving it and was proud of himself in the end for walking it. We had an armadillo that kept visiting us (very used to people, was around my feet quite a bit) which my nephew named Arnold. We saw a deer a couple times, the closest was just after sunset near the playground after returning from a hike (see pic), we didn't disturb him, wasn't afraid of us or our light so I snapped a quick pic. And no, we didn't continue shining a light on him, we were super quick then we left him to do his thing. It was pretty cool. Aside from that we only saw a woodpecker, which was almost right above our site. That was pretty cool too. Was hoping to see a little more wild life but hey...they are wild and free and not there for just our viewing pleasure lol So hopefully next time we get to see more deer.

The silence was something we were not used to with living in city limits in Kissimmee. I live near the turnpike so hearing cars and semi's is literally the background music of my life so it was almost eerie for me lol So was the pitch-blackness! The views are amazing, stars for as far as you can see (as long as there are no clouds). There was always staff around, bathrooms were super clean, hot water and timers for the lights!

Was a great first time experience for the 3 of us. My nephew had a good time and wants to go again soon. We are definitely going back but I think to a different site number lol Thank you to everyone who works/volunteers there and for doing such an amazing job with keeping everything nice and just being friendly and helpful when needed. See you again next year!

We love Lake Kissimmee, State Park, campground and the fishing all around it, but I really wish the Rangers would do a better job of capturing and relocating the raccoons because they were a real pain in the neck. So many raccoons getting in our stuff and tearing stuff out of the dumpsters. Just capture and relocate.

We stayed a week in the equestrian camp. I can't say enough good things. The trails are very well cared for, the wildlife is abundant. Activities in and around the park are great. Can't beat $5 pp. I think the only downfall the water is high sulfur but the horses drank it and the pens are in complete sun with zero shade. So we put up portable fencing under the trees.

I loved this park! Almost all camping sites were private. I could not see the class A camper in the site next to me. Thick foliage between the sites. 10 stars!!

A beautiful campground, very peaceful and natural. Spacious sites, private. Electric and water both consistently good. No wifi.
