Oceanside Walk In Site 61

We stayed 1 night at site 61. We pointed the door to the tent at the beach and got a beautiful breeze running into it. This site is on the sand overlooking the beach. Some of the other sites are pushed into the vegetation a little bit. We really liked this spot compared to the rest. It's hard to pick a site based on a map but we thought this was the best. The campsite itself had very few bugs. The walk to the bathroom and parking lot however (nicknamed Bug Alley) is a hellish mass of mosquitos.

A family of horses hung out around our campfire while the youngest took a nap. It delayed our dinner by about an hour but it was a once in a lifetime experience and was truly special. 2 park rangers walked with the family of horses. I'm not sure if the family is known to go through peoples coolers or if they were looking out for the youngest, but they were incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. They knew the names and history of each horse and were happy to answer questions.

I'm not big on camping but this was worth the terrible night of sleep and bug bites for sure. We had a great time.

Flies everywhere. Wind nonstop battering the tents. Too hot during the day and too cold during the day. I love it. Seen a handful of horses in the past 24 hours as well as other wildlife.

Right in the sand and along the ocean :)
