J Millard Tawes Historical Museum

A gem of a free museum with friendly, knowledgeable staff and a charming gift shop. A definite must if you are in the area!

This is also where you will catch Capt Tyler's Boat over to Smith Island @ 1230. Arrive a bit early and take a moment to support this sleepy little city, rich with history, by visiting thier little museum. Happy Travels

Was a guest at a private party within the museum. The upstairs room is a perfect place for an event. The view of the area around Somers Cove Marina and beyond is beautiful. A kitchen and restroom too.

Lovely little free museum with lots of information on the chesapeake. The shopkeep was very pleasant and helpful!

Wonderfull exhibits, well thought out. It brings the message of the past into clear focus. The Tawes Museum also invokes the need. to keep Chrisfield aware of the past and striving to maintain their values. By the Labor Day celebration was a very cool way to enjoy the long weekend!!!!

Informative but not overwhelming. Reasonably priced souvenirs and books and a great jumping off point for exploring the rest of the town.
There's a meeting room upstairs with a kitchen and service area that suits groups of fewer than 75.

We were there during a commerative boating event on 7/29/17. They had historic 'buy' boats. The boats that would bring in the freshly caught seafood that everyone would buy. They were docked behind the museum and you could tour them. The museum showed the history of Crisfield and how part of the town was literally built on oyster shells. It was fascinating and this is just the friendliest little town. It was definitely worth seeing and I'd highly recommend it.

Excellent exhibits, some very unique Ward Brothers early decoys. Wonderful workshop for learning events like the carving course I'm attending there.

Learned a lot! Small museum, but loads of information! Not much for young kids.

What a pleasant experience with the tour today. Great history, friendly people and we all had a blast at dock days with the golf history tour.

A wonderful place to get to know Crisfield and Somerset County! The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable. Great exhibits, and the facility is lovely indoors and out.

For 3.00 it was nice
