Middle Branch Country Store (Marathon SuperFlite)

We make it a point to stop here for gas on every road trip because of the ice cream. The staff is always extremely courteous and generous. I get the premie size ice cream and usually can't finish it, the scoops are so large, and really cheap to boot. The parking lot isn't large and traffic flow is a little unusual, so I could understand if the staff asked someone to re-park as a couple reviewers have mentioned. Maybe don't park so you're blocking things? Given how kind and friendly the folks working here have always been to us, I'm guessing this is a reviewer problem, not a staff problem, and someone's sensitive about being told they are wrong.
Regardless, we will continue to make this a highlight of our trips, and I hope they never, ever, ever discontinue the ice cream case.

This place was amazing! The guys working there were very pleasant. I took 7 hungry- for- ice-cream kids and paid less than $14! The scoops were ginormous! A premie was too big for my 15 yo, the small was the size of a giant double anywhere else. Ashby brand ice cream. Yum!

Friendly little country store that has an inviting feel from the employees. The ice cream there is worth the stop on the way back to Traverse city. The prebaby size is more than enough for someone with a healthy appetite. Highly recommend!

Don't know what Sarah Carrol is talking about everyone was nice unless you was rude to them as a customer in front of us was which you treat others how you want treated so that's on them and if these kids are being assaulted and forced into the freezer why not file a police report unless it never happened then I understand why you try to blast people on reviews like so

I totally thought the review about the kid getting thrown in the freezer was a joke. However, we just stopped here for ice cream (because you get a huge serving for $2) and my (somewhat small) teenager went in first as my husband was taking a while to get out of the car. Anyway, he walks in, no other customers in the place, and everyone working there looks at him but no one says hi or anything. So he’s waiting at the ice cream area and the guy just looked at him instead of walking over to help him and then the older lady is looking at my son and says “When you put him in the freezer push him all the way to the back this time.” Then some big guy starts walking toward my son while looking at him, and then my husband walked in and the guy turned and walked away. 😳 I don’t know if this was just a coincidence or if he was actually about to get stuffed in the freezer, but it was very weird after having read the other review. So, to be safe, I would recommended that you do not take your children here!!

Worst place ever! Dirty and smelled absolutely horrible! The cashiers made fun of anyone that walked through the door! Stay far away if you can! To the cashier that made fun of me today, get a life! Tourists is what keeps you in business! Kindness goes a long way! Be kind next time and not a jerk!

If you buy gasoline here and you try to use your credit or debit card at the counter inside, their machine will decline your card and payment. Happened to me three times! Each time I had to pay at the pump and I had no trouble.

The worst experience of my life. Not a ounce of hospitality. I bought cookies and THEY WERE ROCK HARD! The employee yelled at me for parking badly. Never ever coming here again.

I brought my kid in there and the worker literally grabbed him by the hair and threw him in the freezer😭😭
