Farris Family Restaurant

This is an easy 5 stars, without even thinking. If you're anywhere close on a Sunday their buffet is probably the best in Southern Illinois. I haven't been to all of them so maybe shouldn't say that but can confidently say it's in top 5 and probably is the best. They commonly have ham, meatloaf, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, baked beans, green beans, and on and on in the buffet. Plus has a salad bar and dessert bar that both comes with it! Just absolutely awesome. You will not go home hungry and everything is top notch.

My daughter's and their daughters and one's husband and my Momma ate at Farris's Family Restaurant, today. Everyone enjoyed the food and had so much fun with each other. The employees were great! We really appreciate everything. Thank you so much for the hospitality and the patience!

My wife and I will be moving to the area, and we stopped in for breakfast. Kelsie was our server and she made us feel at home. The place was clean, service and food were both very good. We will be regular customers after our move.

I have the food 4 stars not because it was bad, but we showed up at 1:25 and decides to eat off the lunch buffet which ended at 1;30, everything was good and hot but things was also not fresh due to they was getting ready to shut down the buffet but nothing fresh was put on the bar, but it was just me and my husband eating so I did not expect them to make all fresh stuff just for us. We will definitely return and keep the lunch buffet times in mind😁. The service was great and the place was clean.

It was a memorial weekend. My friends came to visit from out of town. We all wanted breakfast out.

We drove around and searched. Nothing open - anywhere in Carmi or surrounding areas.

This was it. Had never been.

Breakfast was great - people were personable. 5 stars plus one!

We ate at the bar and the food was fresh and sooo delicious! The service was awesome as well! I would recommend this place to everyone.

From service, to quality to value no complaints. Our server was very nice and helpful. Ordered two appetizers (fried okra, and breaded mushrooms) and two entrées for under 21$ food was prepared perfectly. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Thank you

Great food friendly and homemade goodness

This is what it is about. I am from a small town, even smaller than McLeansboro. It is great to see that this place survived these hard times.
Sunday Buffet, not what I needed, but what I wanted! Chicken was good, the Meatloaf was unreal! The taters and gravy was great and the pies are awesome. My family loved it. It was priced very fair and service was great. The other customers explained the buffet system(the health code stuff in the new era), it was awesome. McLeansboro should be proud.

While working in McLeansboro. I stopped in for lunch. They had my fight or order off from you. I chose the buffet I was not disappointed they had fried chicken fried catfish mashed potatoes green beans macaroni and cheese baked beans and there was more that I'm forgetting and a full salad bar it tasted just like a home cooked meal if I'm ever up this way again I will definitely be eating here again

Reasonably priced good portions good food and good service

Well worth a stop. Great country style home cooking. Buffet is the best deal around. Ham and beans best I've had in years. Don't miss this hidden gem.

Great casual dining, reasonably priced, especially for down home cooking! Nice lunch buffet, homemade pies, cake and cobbler and homemade ice cream. Easy parking. Easy to find right on highway thru McLeansboro on route 14. And they serve good breakfast too.

Food was excellent. Portion size was generous. Prices were competitive. The front house was clean and the staff friendly small town folks that give you a great feel for the day.

This is a HomeTown Friendly restaurant where they call you by your first name especially if you are a repeat customer. A really great place if you have a large family gathering and don't have the food to feed them. Food is Homestyle Cooking.

They have a wonderful buffet every week day for senior's..for only 40 but if you get there early it is great and only $4.00..always have Chicken and a big salad bar.. has homemade ice cream..Too!!!
