Beautiful lake and camp grounds. We will definitely be going there again. The only problem was the tarantulas. One of our chihuahuas was bitten, and we spent the weekend giving her benadryl every 4 hours. It was also difficult to get down to the water for bank fishing. The deer coming into the camp Saturday evening was a wonderful surprise.

It was beautiful weekend when we went. the new mexico state parks were there daily cleaning up after people. They don't bother you they just wave with a friendly smile.

Nice clean lake with good fishing. The water used to be higher, but still plenty of room to roam today. Bring what you need cause there’s not much for shopping locally to the lake. Will be staying longer next time.

Our favorite lake to boat. It's large, with tons of coves to explore. The water is great, and fishing can be good.

I loved this park. The staff were very friendly and helpful but gave you your privacy.
I camped at a first came first serve non-electric campsite with a picnic shelter. However there are lots of electric sites and reservations can be made.
When I was there, there was no water as they were having issues. I always travel with 12 gallons of drinking water so it didn't affect me....well apart from the fact that the showers and flushing toilets were closed because of it. Porta Potties were set up in front of each bathroom building.
There are lots of roadways to walk the dogs but I wouldn't suggest hanging out outside after dark as there are coyotes in the area. I travel with 2 dogs and my Australian Shepherd was very agitated at night. Every morning, there was fresh coyote poop beside my picnic shelter and my tire was peed on.
If you have small dogs, be careful of the hawks. They are pretty large and kept circling around my campsite when my elderly Maltese was outside. In fact one of them began a dive toward him and my Australian Shepherd stepped over him to shelter him from the hawk. Phew😕There are also huuuuge tarantulas. Lovely views of the water.

Can I give a 6 star review?? This place is so much fun for everything thag has to do with water. Whether it's jet ski, boating, fishing, cliff diving, it's got it all. On the east side of the lake their is some incredible cliff jumping spots and the entire lake is so picturesque with the red rocks and the deep turquoise water. Highly suggest to anyone looking to get away for a weekend :)

Water is way down, but still worth being here. Lots of obstacles on the water. But great camping sites. From tents to motor homes. Water is off, and no sewage. Main restrooms are closed and are using portapots.

Great lake for boating! The water is beautiful and the lake is fairly large. We came across several groups of awesome (and very helpful) groups of people while there. Boat loading and unloading worked well, with people all working together. We plan to go back soon!

Beautiful and clean lake. Shoreline camping is amazing here. Great ramps in different locations around the lake so you can access wherever you're camping!

This may be New Mexico's best kept secret. The Army Core of Engineers camp ground was amazing and the lake was beautiful. It felt perfect for endless recreation and exploration. Cannot recommend enough, you won't be disappointed.

We were just rolling through headed towards the mountains and we always like to stop and check out a lake in case we want to bring our boat back. We rolled through and checked out all the boat ramps on both the south side and the North side. Both looked great and I don't imagine we'd have any trouble getting in and out of the water here. The water seemed clear and cool for as hot as it is this summer. I expect the waters lower now than it has been based on what the shoreline look like but they're having a good rainy season here and it looks like they might catch up.

This is a cool park to visit. You gotta be careful on a boat because it's pretty shallow and there are some big rocks. If you stay smart and keep away from the rocks you can do some good skiing and wakeboarding as well as catch some smallies and large mouth. It's a good, all around lake and it's not too far for a day trip from Albuquerque.

I tend to enjoy a campground more when I have to with fewer people. So, coming here the second weekend in November was perfect. Peaceful (no generator noise), spacious and clean with level sites and shaded tables. Lake access is exellent, even for swimmers (no I didn't go in this time!). Not much sand. Perhaps Ute Lake's stepbrother, but that is part of its charm. A bit further from home than I would like, but I will definitely be back.
Verizon: no cell or data signal whatsoever. ATT and T-Mobile: both hotspots with excellent data reception--without using my booster, allowing me to catch up on my youtube viewing.

I want to rate it a 1 so that it remains the hidden jewel that it is, but a 5 is accurate. It is remote, so be sure to bring any indespensible items with you. The 104 Store is available for some shopping, but they price their items like they're the only store for 30 miles. Which they are... The lake has great fishing, nice shore hikes, mussel shells galore, lots of neat Corps of Engineers history. So far AT&T and T-mobile are the cell services that work out there for us. A fabulous place to go and disconnect!

Excellent kayak lake. Rocky clifflike terrain, protects from wind. USACE (Corp of engineers) U.S. ARMY as well as NM parks do a great job keeping area clean and inviting. NM Parks side (north) requires non NM residents to not be given access, but USACE grants lake access with no restrictions. Consult their web sites and anticipate confusion concerning lake/camping restrictions. Never the less, a wonderful lake.
