Beautiful drive… once you get to the parking area. Stop. It’s all flooded about 500 feet after so you have to back out. Sounds like a typical grassland with hundreds of birds. Lily’s were not bloomed anymore in mid June. A few leftovers but not much

The Camas Prairie Marsh had been on our visit list for a few years. Finally got out June 2023. Due to the wet year, there was flooding but the road from Hill City was fine and could be accessible with a sedan. The lillies were blooming, but I think we were there before the peak. The bird watching was the real joy. Great informational signage next to the pit toilet at the main trailhead. If you visit the first weekend of June, make sure to head to Fairfield for Lily Days!

Wonderful place for the nature lover to enjoy the outdoors and the spring season in mid to late May. The blue camas flowers come up amid the waters of the marsh area. Along with the flowers are numerous types of birds that frequent the area for nesting. There is a large pond near the rest stop/camping area that makes for a great walk. Probably need some kind of water boots or shoes.

Great place to photograph the spring bloom of Camas Lilies with Soldier Mountain as a backdrop. Lots of birding opportunities also. There's a clean outhouse and a picnic area by the marsh. Leashed dogs are allowed. We also saw the sheepherder wagon and hundreds of sheep grazing. There's a little greasy spoon about 15 miles north in Fairfield called Wrangler Drive in that makes delicious shakes. We had a good lunch there. Watch for antelope along the way too!

Simply gorgeous... stunning views all around. Lots of birds...saw a few I've never seen before. Saw a muskrat in the water.

Fabulous views... Lots of birds. Lisa of mosquitos as well in late spring.

Wish we could have made it for the camas bloom but still a nice trip. Easy to get to. There is a vault toilet and a picnic table. Very short trails along a pond in the marsh. Great for bird watching and finding wildflowers. Kids had a blast.

This is a beautiful remote place to watch birds. You can stay the night and listen to them too. There is a pit toilet, but no water. Bring TP-it isn't always available in large supply (or bring a roll to donate to the cause). In May or early June, depending on the year, you can see the famous purple Camas flowers. Contact the local Forest Service office to see what their status is.

This was a calm, beautiful place. I visited this place in the spring, sadly after the camas flowers died. They keep the small visitors area clean and functioning, and the roads, while dirt, seem to be maintained well. There were plenty of wildlife and the kids thought it was great.

Nice little break from driving. All sorts of birds in the marsh. Soon flowers will bloom. Spectacular show by 2 bald eagles.

Beautiful end of May 1st of June. Be careful where you walk if your are going to get out of your car and enjoy the Camas and other flowers.

Usually pretty quiet for bird watching. In a single day we spotted Canada geese, cinnamon teal, mallard ducks, terns, swallows, Hawks and a few we couldn't identify. During Camas lily season it is considerably more crowded but still worth it.

This is one of my favorite places. If the musical silence of the prairie is what you crave, this is the place to be.

Beautiful. In May of 2019 I witnessed the most green I never thought possible in central-ish Idaho.

The bird watching was top notch.

Soon to be recognized as being an ancient Native American site. Canals and symbols are amazing!
