The Harkness Hotel

Came here for an anniversary trip and LOVED it!!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful. We booked the Ebony but changed our minds to find a bigger bed and a tub. We were not at all disappointed with the Indigo. Their rooms are all so cute and cozy. The lobby has a water and ice machine as well as an espresso machine that does all sorts of coffees and espressos. It also has delicious hot chocolate and hot water for you to seep your choice from an assortment of teas. Check-out was super easy. My husband and I both agreed we would love to stay here again!

This hotel is a hidden gem!! We stayed in the indigo room and it was clean, spacious, and beautiful. The bathtub is very large and the shower is lovely. The bed is comfy and I liked the fireplace. The price is great for the quality of the room. The coffee in the lobby is excellent as well. The machine can make coffee, lattes, hot chocolate, and chai lattes.

We checked in after hours (the lobby closes at 7) and it was easy. We let the staff know a few hours before arrival that we would be checking in late and they took care of us. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay again!

Everything was lovely. The bed in our room was so comfortable. Everything was clean. Close to Lava. I actually enjoyed the train horn during the night!! It was very nostalgic for me because I grew up in Pocatello listening to the trains go through and I had forgotten about them... We will be back! Thank you.

WOW! Historic treasure - lovingly and tastefully refurbished!
While planning on staying in Lava Springs, The Harkness Hotel kept popping up on all platforms - so I booked nothing - choosing instead to stop in on the way through! What an amazing place. We paid same as best web price - which for such quality is outstanding value - and - "becaue he could" we were also generously given a complimentary upgrade to one of the best rooms in the house. The entire experience was classy, comfortable, clean! This property is not a typical hotel experience - way superior! A gourmet coffee machine set us up for our morning departure. Wished we had longer - Thanks to the Harkness Hotel - I highly recommend you to all!

I would give The Harkness Hotel a million stars if I could. We decided to stay here on our honeymoon 8 years ago because my father highly suggested it. And man it did not disappoint. We went back for anniversary's and now we're going for family vacations. They always go above and beyond to make our stay cozy, comfy, and happy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

My husband and I stayed here for an overnight getaway at lava this weekend. We love this place! It is beautiful and so unique, especially after considering all the other options in Lava. I think it is a new tradition! The only thing that might improve the experience is upgrading the tvs to smart tvs and not having rooms with bunkbeds… which means kids… which means noise. Luckily it wasn’t too big of a problem for us, but I could see it being a concern with the thin walls.

We had to make an emergency exit from i-15 due to weather and were so grateful for the Harkness Hotel!! The rooms were clean and beautifully renovated. We were so comfortable and grateful for the clean space to land for the night! Will definitely keep these guys in mind for next time.

Beautifully restored historic building results in a charming, vintage feel. Front desk staff was very kind and knowledge about the building and area. Room was gorgeous and modern with minimalist decor. The Italian coffee machine downstairs was an unexpected highlight! What a treat to have fresh espresso or hot chocolate or any other coffee at the push of a button. The location was perfect for a quick drive to Lava Hot Springs where we enjoyed meals and hot pools. Definitely recommend for a luxurious weekend getaway!

We booked the Ebony room because I loved the modern Victorian decor. Although the hotel is seemingly in the middle of nowhere, it's a short drive to the Lava Hot Springs. Nicely renovated hotel with historic charm.

This is my absolute favorite hotel getaway tucked in little Mccamon Idaho. It’s only a 10 minute drive from Lava Hot Springs. The rooms are IMMACULATE. They are decorated gorgeous and give a sense of peace and relaxation. The staff is always friendly and inviting. They have a yummy coffee bar with the best chai lattes ever. My husband and I have stayed here several times and we will continue to come back. Thank you for creating a beautiful space to relax and unwind.

This stay was a birthday treat to myself. I was in the Indigo Room. I had a fabulous tub, and it got used. Bring bubble bath!

It was so lovely and so wonderful that they repurposed the building into a hotel. Their gift shop is the old bank vault!

There is a little café just a two minute walk down from the hotel. Fabulous French toast and cinnamon rolls and bread to acquire after your meal. And a mini-grocery store right across the street, if that is more to your liking, or your room has a kitchenette.

For your awareness, there is no elevator if your room is on the 2nd floor.

I'll be visiting again!

Absolutely loved our stay at the Harkness Hotel. The location was perfect, only 10 minutes from Lava Hot Springs. The room was beautiful and the coffee machine was premium. 10/10 would recommend staying at the Harkness Hotel if you are in South Eastern Idaho!

This is a fabulous hotel, truly a lux experience. The decor is super classy and everything is so thoughtful from the linens to the high end products for bathing to the awesome espresso maker. This place is a real gem, will plan to stay here any time I’m in the neighborhood!

We stayed at the Sage House. It’s just perfect. It had so much space for our party of 8. We had everything we needed. Clean, Comfy beds, cozy sheets, quiet neighborhood. Wish all accommodations could be this wonderful. Exceeded our expectations!

Amazing place to stay.
We stayed in room 103, had a private entrance for our room which was very nice.
Room was absolutely gorgeous. Bed was super comfortable, the pillows are big!
The shower was incredible with a rainfall facet and the bathtub was very nice as well.
10/10 would recommend.
10 minute drive to the Lava Hot Springs and the town is so cute!

My husband and I stayed in the Indigo Suite for our 13th anniversary. We absolutely LOVED it!

First off, the design of the room is gorgeous. The lighting installed and color of the walls is very relaxing. The wooden beam accents on the headboard and fireplace mantle gave the perfect rustic charm. The mattress and pillows were SO comfy. My husband can't stop raving about them. The large walk in shower had 2 heads and the stand alone bathtub was so nice to soak in. Vaulted ceilings throughout made the room seem so large & luxurious

Because it is such a small hotel, it lacks amenities like room service, continental breakfast, or a pool. But it more than makes up for that with the quality of rooms and peaceful small town feel

The location is very remote but only 10 minutes away from the tourists shops and restaurants in Lava Hot Springs. Right across the street from the hotel is a small gas station/grocery and 1 block away is a cafe. You can find anything you need within walking distance!

I only had minor critiques for our stay
1. The water did take a while to warm up when trying to start a shower or fill the tub
2. It would have been nice to have somewhere to fill our water bottles or get ice
3. The thermostat in the room didn't get the temp quite low enough at night. An additional floor AC unit or ceiling fan would be helpful during hot summer months

We will be recommending the Harkness Hotel to all our friends and will definitely be back in the future!

What a local treasure this hotel is! The check in was swift, and the room... How Romantic! For a local couple trying find a little spark. A very quant get-away. A huge free standing bath tub. And an even greater size shower stall, with a large overhead shower that emulates an outdoors downpour of warm water. The room was clean and fresh. The bed comfortable. Good job whoever designed this room!

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Harkness Hotel after a quick visit to the hot springs, and it exceeded all of my expectations. The charming historic building added to the overall ambiance and made for a truly unique experience. The room was immaculate, yet still retained so much character and charm. It was not at all cold or sterile like some hotels can be. The room was also surprisingly large, I had assumed it would be smaller considering the historic nature of the building, so the spaciousness of it was a pleasant surprise. The linens were super luxurious and warm, which was perfect for the snowy evening. The lobby was stunningly beautiful and the hot beverage bar was a delicious and convenient added bonus. We received a very helpful recommendation for the darling cafe down the road (Rae’s Cafe) and dined there for dinner. I’ve seen a lot of reviews mention the lack of dining in the little town, but the new cafe seems to remedy that, so there’s nothing stopping you from a lovely stay. The only thing I’d add is that they are closed on Sunday, so plan on dining elsewhere if your stay falls on that day.
Overall I’d say this is one of the cutest places I’ve ever stayed and I’d highly recommend it.
